No More Baseball...

sigh.

Well it was an entertaining World Series...

1) No Boston, New York or The Angels Angels of Garden Grove.

2) there was a five-man infield... too bad it didn't work.
3) during that five-man infield... the Phillies scored and the only ball that went farther than 65 feet was because the catcher threw the ball into centerfield...
4) CUPCAKES HIT A HOMERUN!!!
5) rain delayed for a day and a half

Cupcakes in March

Cupcakes in October

Well adios baseball... I guess I'll see you in March... maybe?

Apparently I've Given Up on Life... But it's ok, so has my alma mater

1) I have a bunch of drafts on blogger... that I have not finished.

2) I went and bought new slacks... Found a size that fit, walked straight into the dressing room, started pulling them up and was like "WTF?! is up with this waist?" Turns out it "expands". Well the first instinct when you're standing with no pants is to put pants on. Since it was half way on... I pulled up, buttoned up and was like, "hmmmm the elastic waistband is actually quite comfy...."

yes, I have given up on life. I now own pants that stretch in the waist.

It's ok because my alma mater has as well...squeaking a 42-35 win against UNLV.

But you're saying..."they won...and moved up on the polls..."

Lets look at UNLV football before they played BYU saturday.

30 years of being a Division I team... has not cracked the AP poll once... not once of "hey we're 25 in the nation!!!"

3-12 against byu. average score 34-18...

So I was watching the ESPN scoreboard update.

byu scores... unlv scores.. this continues. UNLV put up 35 points, the most against BYU since they put 45 points on the scoreboard in 1981.

Really... at home... the once ranked in the top 10, BYU Cougars... let UNLV march up and down the field in Provo... sad.

Oh something to cheer you up, if you look at Steven Young's wiki page...

"all the while getting up at 4:00 a.m. each morning to attend an LDS Church religious class before school." link

seminary in CT is hard-core!!! or else the wiki author doesn't know what the hell he/she is talking about.... I don't know how I made it to 6 am seminary...

Kaakun... and the Wedding Invite

names will be left out to protect the "innocent"

So Kaakun is doing a bit of overtime... the past two-weeks =49 hours of overtime...

AWESOME... doing my part to hack away at the deficit by getting into a higher tax bracket.

so a project gets dumped into my lap... a wedding invite... for some people that I don't know.

Why? I know not.
maybe because...
I'm a Communcations major? I should be good at this?
I own an Apple computer? I like spending money to look like I'm creative.
I own Adobe CS2? I must be very good and very creative.

Anyways, I know some handy people... I tried to outsource... no cigar.

So I get off work and start digging through what I have to work with....

TANGENT:Now, I have never been married... I have never gone through the wedding prep process...(The closest I've ever gotten was going with my sister to get her dress altered...and the reason I went was because the map to the lady's house was probably the most backwards ass map I've ever seen...and she assumed I was the groom... which is probably one of the most disturbing things I've ever heard... that and she kept calling my sister Oriental... she probably should have been kicked...)

As far as I am concerned... the future Mrs. Kaakun has full reign to do whatever her wacky heart desires on wedding plans. (Really are you going to piss off the person that knows where you sleep and where the German cutlery is?!?! So just go with it... and know that once that day is over you'll have a full week's of spatulas to choose from as your favorite flapjack flipper.)

BUT... I know what I don't like...
Anyways what I had to work with was pretty much what I despise in announcing your upcoming nuptials.

_too many photos. check... really do you have to "myspace" your wedding invite?
_a photo of the couple kissing... I'm assuming that you like each other.. hence the getting married... but oh look I have evidence in print now.
_a cheap looking invite. designed by yours truly.

so I do my hour and change of pro-bono design work... look at it and think..
wow... this kinda sucks...

I send it off to the Mexican and let him chime in.

at first he's nice...

mexi: hey that actually looks pretty good.
me: whatever
mexi: no it does.
me: if this was your invite what would you dislike....

then out came the list of things wrong.

Eh, whatever. I'm done, I took the poop I was given and rearranged it, slapped some parsley around it called it an entree. I'm an artist!

The design was jpeg'd and sent off to Utah....

I have NO idea how it will turn out in print form... Pretty much everything I've ever designed on Adobe products looks anywhere from "gawd awful" to "eh... well thats just a little crappy" once printed... I blame Kinkos color printers partially.

Tags Tags Tags

So Ellie posts something... I read through it... then noticed it was a tag... then at the end I was tagged... ugh was the first thing in my head, then I looked at the top and noticed what it was suppose to be. 7 quirky things... Thats easy. I can do that in my sleep... List quirky things about me.

(I was going to see how far the tag went back, taking one topic from each and saying how quirky I am on that topic, but the 2nd degree tagger is a "private blog" no unknown asians allowed.... so yeah...)

7- Im Asian... and I'm Mormon... yeah... not sure how that worked out. (Actually I do know. Parents try to have kids. parents fail, mother gets baptized. down comes Kaakun. God knew I wouldn't listen any other way than getting the good word beaten into my head by mi madre....) I'm left handed, according to the allergy test I took as a kid I'm allergic to soy...asian allergic to soy. ponder that. 2nd toe is longer than the big toe and the quiet sarcastic type which usually is taken as the jerk type because the one audible thing said would be quite sarcastic and taken the wrong way. and that is how Quirky Kirky is a jerk. I'm really a one-in-a-million type kid.

6- I like to ramble.

5- I remember stuff... not school stuff... which would have been quite beneficial. I remember losing a hockey game in '99 and am still quite pissed off about it. I remember telling the kid that I went to see my first show post-mish with, that I lived in Helaman instead of Heritage and I remember liking blondes b/c their hair was different as a young kid. Thank goodness I grew out of that.

4- I knew as a 22-year-old the qualities in a spouse I would need to be a successful kid. See, I don't listen to myself on what to do. Seek it out, find it, get fat. Instead, I'm just getting fat.

3- I don't take commands so well... but I listen well to other things...problems...stories... etc. Going back to #5... I'll probably use it against you four years later in a blog post.

2- I can't hit a fairway(golf)... but I've hit people... two to be exact... Christian probably still has the ball mark in his back to prove it.

1- I blog. blog to an audience of Juan, Kevin, Reagan and Jessica and my sister. and the occasional visitor... or and larrie... hmm... I guess thats a decent list... LeeElle... hmmm.. Jordan... ok nevermind... I have a substantial audience... just think how awesome it could be if I didn't write fluff pieces. Sorry audience members, one day.

Hmmm

So my facebook friends/associates/whatever have been quite vocal online what they think about gay marriage and prop 8.

I have questions.

What happens during gay divorce....

Im sure that stats for divorce would be similar. with the boys that like boys... and the girls that like boys...and the girls that like girls. This is the current stats I found online.
Age at marriage for those who divorce in America
Age
Women
Men
Under 20 years old 27.6% 11.7%
20 to 24 years old 36.6% 38.8%
25 to 29 years old 16.4% 22.3%
30 to 34 years old 8.5% 11.6%
35 to 39 years old 5.1% 6.5%

Who pays the alimony?

The guy... or the guy?
Do you pick the guy that makes more money?
The median income for a full-time male worker, over the age of 25 is $43,317. I am sure homo-sexuals, its higher. They like to work, look at Ryan Seacrest...works like 20 hours a day.

If I've learned anything from tv... its that the guy ALWAYS gets screwed... so which guy do you pick to screw over?

During the divorce do you split the waredrobe in half? I mean that could work out great. especially if they're the same size.

Before that, do lesbians buy each other engagement rings?
that could drive demand up for diamond rings... supply stays the same. This all equals jewelry costing more..

Who leads during the couple's first dance?

Who takes whose name? If you hyphenate who goes first?

If prop 8 fails, will that finally be the end of hearing about gay marriage?? when divorce shows its ugly head, will the gay community be like... hmm... this really isn't all that its cracked up to be??? Or is it just going to open up pandoras box? Guy wants to marry twins... we're all consenting why not? Or guy wants to marry life-size doll? Did Bianca not do wonders for Lars?

Screw You Ticketmaster

So two Wicked tickets through ticketmaster $90

compared to...

two Wicked tickets at the box office $70

two LA Kings ticket at ticketmaster? 215.8
same by calling the Kings. $199

Get to talk to a person. and say hey what do you have... and it's CHEAPER!!!!
or in the case of at the Pantages box office...

me:I just want something in January?
Big African American woman: ok.
me: something for $35
BAAW: I need dates...
me: I don't care, that last Tuesday?
BAAW: they go up $5 in January.
me: Screw that, lets do December.

So fact 1- Wicked gets more expensive as it ages.
fact 2- there is one hour parking in front of the Pantages... no need to send the ex-wifey driving around the block over and over.

So Kings tickets went up in price... apparently being the 2nd worse team in the NHL means you can charge more... for people to see you get dominated 60% of the time.

Difference between last year and this year?

um the promos for the season have fancier computer graphics?

they have girls (Laker girl rejects? Layed off playboy bunnies?) cleaning up snow during tv time outs instead of mexican laborers

Thats about it...

Thats funny...

Thats a little strange...

So Anze got mad and took his stick to the plexi... yeah... It's rough when you sign a seven-year extension to be on the 2nd worse team in the NHL. (thats not Anze.. I don't know who that is)

The back-up goalie probably has to change his pants now sitting behind nothing now as the glass gets changed... it was loud... taking the lumber to a sheet of plexi... Anze is strong. If I tried that the stick would probably bounce back and hit me in the eye.

My Los Tiborones won... even though they played like horrible crap. It was ugly...
but they're 3-0. And I got to see all three games. I'm a happy camper.

Oh and we stayed off the jumbo... Not telling Joshy you're at the game keeps 17,000 people from seeing your asian mug.

Thursday Sports

Sharks: 4 Los Angeles Mighty Ducks of Anaheim: 1
The Angels are throwing toddleresqe tantrums and the Ducks hack and slash their way to a loss... its a good week!!!

Ahh hockey season has started. good ole good ole hockey.

really there can't be many other events better than the hockey game. Wedding?(pffth), graduation? (yawn), Christmas? (unless you're under the age of 10, doubtful).

And I get to go to Sharks/Kings Sunday... woot!!! nothing like professional athletes' BO to end your sabbath day.

Brian you are missed... a little...
Foolsball
So Who are the the Mountain West officials going to be cheering for on November 22nd if both Utah and BYU are undefeated?

BYU
...beat Northern Iowa
...beat Washington (who've beaten no one)
...beat UCLA (who beat Tennessee who is having an average season)

Utah
...beat Michigan (who beat Wisconsin)
...beat Weber State
...beat Oregon State (who beat Hawaii, USC)

BYU has the advantage of the polls... Utah the advantage of strength of schedule...

decisions decisions to be made in Colorado Springs.

pray for Lisa to make the RIGHT decision and maybe I'll get to that game too...

Yay! Go Me!

or something...

so its bloody hot (the highs today (technically I guess it was yesterday) a whopping 78 at home, 84 at work). Oh shoot global warming is a LEGIT threat.

well... instead of sleeping.. I saw that Equifax was "giving" "free" score numbers.

(Technically you're legally able to figure out this on your own... so I'm not sure how it's free come check it today! but whatever)

So I sent VITAL personal information to them over the Internetz...

Tangent: So before I took up broadcasting everything on the Internets the credit score was barely over 700.

2004 Kaakun was 704.
2005 Kaakun was 704.
End Tangent

but 2008 Kaakun... now armed with a college degree and a loyal following of three people via the Internet...

I have an impressive score of _ _ _!!!!

It went up!!! Goes to show you. To improve your credit. blog.
Somebody loan me money... oh crap all the banks are broken.

well poop.

Anyways...
The Red Sox won hahhahahahahhaahahah... I hate the Angels of Garden Grove...
if someone would give me $1000 to go and wear Angels attire and cheer for them. I would say no.

I hope the Rays go to the World Series. I can't hate a team that has sucked miserably for ten years.

Kaakun's official order of hatred from least to most for 2008 AL playoff teams.
Rays > White Sox > Red Sox >>>> Angels.
