Worried?

I know the A's clinched the division and are coasting into the playoffs are resting injured players by putting a AAA/MLB combo of a team out on the field.

But the team's ERA for the month is 4.85 and the starters have an ERA of 5.64. That's not going to cut it in the playoffs.

It's kinda nice to be able to watch A's baseball on tv. It's kinda disappointing though that the game I watched, they're in cruise control.

The Sharks are 5-1 in the preseason. Not that it means anything. They were undefeated last year, and sucked it up for the first 3 months of the season.

So now the reality of life kicks in as the month-long Vegas vacation comes to an end. My friend Kevin was kind enough to let me stay with him for minimal cost. Almost every day has had one meal eaten out (due to parts of laziness and blue-collar work does take alot out of you). The vacation also has extended briefly into probably my two favorite states, California and Washington. I've seen the Puget Sound, the Pacific Ocean and Big Bear Lake.

The only neat thing about Vegas is the whole city is built on a fantasy. One problem is the state is right in between California and Utah. They took the worse driving skills from both states and created a monster of drivers. The other problem is if you look at the desert, you only think, "wow that's pretty," maybe for a split second. It's hot, the wind blows sand all over, joshua trees and tumbleweed really aren't all that exciting. They pale in comparison to looking at a huge redwood in the forest or a wave come crashing down. But thanks to Casino builders you can pretty much go to anywhere in the world you want, just by going to that specifically themed casino/hotel.

Now as the month comes to an end. All the people I know in Vegas are making a b-line for different grounds. Kevin's going to work the St. George crowd's carpets. Rachel after getting dealed a couple raw hands is back to the drawing board in Provo.

Now the vacation is over and I get to pay rent, utilities and the other common living expenses amongst joshua trees, ragweed and dirt. Obviously the days of eating out are numbered. Luckily the heat is gone, weather.com says the average high for October is 81. And I just bought 4 boxes of Maxfli M3's for only $8 a box. Hello golf courses. Hello life.

It was a neat trip.

Work is only going to be 9 miles away instead of 20 like it was in Utah.

I have a Fry's Electronics, an In-and-Out and not just one but two Jack in box's in between work and home. Which I didn't have in Utah.


and the playoffs will be well under way (Jordan thinks I can't make a post without mentioning baseball).

Brand New is coming to Vegas. yay. With Dashboard Confessional. boo. I decided my last Brand New show was going to be my last show I'd ever see. Even though I had the desire to see Thrice three times (I only made it twice...sad, both were amazing shows at Bricks though)

It is also outdoors. My first and last outdoor show in Vegas was hot and I ended up with this scar on my right knee...It didn't really hurt, but it was a reminder that I'm not as young as I used to be (and that was 2.5 years ago).

If you've looked at anything related to sports today. You'd see news that the manager of the Florida Marlins has 0% chance of returning next year as manager. A manager that kept his team in a playoff race til the end of September. A team that gets paid a grand total of 14 million dollars. In a sport where there are over 25 players making over 14 million a year and the average player salary is 2.3 million.

I think that Florida's front office is getting tremendous bang for it's buck a team that is probably full of AAA talent besides Dontrelle Willis and Miguel Cabrera.

King Richard is back!!!

He pitched 3 innings, struck out 7 and his arm didn't fall off (which is quite possible since he hasn't pitched since June 4th). The magic number is now 4. The west can be clinched Saturday. There all 10 games left and the A's only have to win 4 games (or two games of the last 7 versus the Angels).

I need to start a collection plate. Kirk needs to get cable to watch playoff baseball.




I also got cultured and checked out the Ansel Adams exhibit in the Bellagio. It was neat. Small but neat. It's called America, but it should be renamed Yosemite, because thats what 45% of the pictures were of.

They just have to win six games against the likes of the Indians, Mariners and Angels. Plus every Angels' loss equals won less game the A's have to worry about winning.

Duke has a ERA of .96 for the month and The Big Hurt is batting .333 for the month with 10 HRs and 26 RBIs. They're pretty much carrying the team through another average September (10-7).

I also came across the New New Found Glory CD. Yawn. I used to find the whining of Jordan entertaining. The songs aren't catchy, overall NFG has been disappoiting for a while now. Maybe I'm growing up.

The new Brand New CD comes out in November though. That should be entertaining.

The Move 2

Not as traumatic as 'The Move'. It looks like I will be a Las Vegas resident til the end of next June (I guess it is leagally binding, since I signed a lease). In 11 days I'll have all my stuff moved from a Utah storage unit and moved into a Nevada storage unit. Which I'm not to thrilled about since, storage space is expensive.

I'll be a professional carpet cleaner for the time I suppose and my job search will be condensed from Vegas or Southern California to Vegas/Henderson. We'll see what happens. I just hope I can make enough money to pay rent and put food in my tummy and try to squeeze nine holes of golf in now and again.

So I have some awesome pictures of golf and Mt. Charleston and fountains that make a big boom sound when they shoot water up into the air. You'll be able to see those eventually.

For some reason my Ipod shuffle has been plugged in for like 10 hours and isn't showing me a green light. I don't know if it is charged up or not.

I need a dresser and/or a new laundry bag, my dirties have been sitting out in the open way to long.

I got my last XanGo paycheck today. I wonder if will do like I asked and have my termination day as Labor day so I can get holiday pay, probably not, we'll find out in two weeks though. They did add 4.62 hours of PTO on the pay check though... Maybe they'll add that to the holiday pay of Labor day? 12.62 hours of pay for nothing would be pretty rad. It is kinda sad to see my last XanGo pay check...

Frustrated.

Who loses to Adam Eaton? Apparently the A's do. And so the series after bragging we won yet another series. We lose the series. Hopefully they can pull out a win tomorrow (or I guess it's later today, since the game starts in like 12 hours).

I just soaped two roaches to death.

Just drove 30 mins to watch Gilmore Girls and an episode of Law and Order: Special Victims Unit just to turn around and drive back 30 mins. TV has serious writting issues. Which makes it all the more sad that Arrested Development got canned. Speaking of AD, I need to go out and buy Season 3 on DVD.

I don't know where the nail clippers got packed away to or if they even made the trip.

I so didn't get to play roller hockey at some ghetto rink in West Valley.

The A's lost 2 in a row to the Rangers, and the stupid Angels of Garden Grove next to Anaheim keep sqeaking out wins against the O's in extra innings.

A two-day weekend

So I worked Saturday, like 12 hours almost. So it was only a two-day weekend for me. I went to Mt. Charleston on Monday. That was neat, with all the trees and what not. Then I ate a 29 dollar Prime Rib. That was tasty. I'd have pictures but my digital camera cord is in the storage unit.

The A's won!

Another series, they beat the O's, 10-1 today. Loiaza is finally pitching well. He did well all of the month of August and it's gone into Sept.

It's hot here. And I've worked like 35 hours in like three days. But it isn't bad.
