Marriage
So Kevin got married yesterday. Thats nine former roommates that are married (some of these could be divorced, since you pretty much lose contact with marrieds). Ten former roommates that aren't or I have no idea whats happened to them.

Baseball

The A's have a winning record in May. 14-13. Woot. After two months of baseball they are a .500 baseball team. This is strange. Usually I'm happy if they're just a couple games under .500 at this time of the year...
Hopefully history stays true and they go on their usual four month tear and make the AL West race interesting to the last weekend of the year.
For the month they put up a line of .274/.361/.432
The pitchers put up a line of 3.69 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, 5.5 K/9 In.
It's really what you'd expect for this team hitting wise. The pitching has been pretty amazing. Not bad for a team who half it's players should be playing AAA baseball.
Apparently even though there are no bears in Havasupai, we still need to bear bag our food. The squirrels down there are crazy...

Maybe they don't have light sabers. I don't know what goes on down there. It just seems a bit strange to send your food up into where the squirrels live...so they can't eat it. hm

I'm Feautured in Utah Valley Business Q

(kinda, ok not really)
So if you're in Utah Valley or decided you've wanted to spend $5 on something. You can pick up a copy of Utah Valley Business Q, Spring 2007. Skip to page 45.
There is a picture of me at the Real Madrid/Real Salt Lake game. Woot. I'm standing next to Tim and Ellie. Free soccer tickets on the 17th row in section E37 really rock.
It's funny that Tim ended up right next to me.
The next picture is me working hard... or something. Yeah Xango Will Call was a cushy job.
This is much better than making the Daily Universe as "that jerk that wouldn't give the ball back" (that other jerk shouldn't have been kicking footballs into the crowd if he wanted them back and thats my final stance on that subject). So Xango is one of the top five companies to work for in Utah county. I'll agree. Paid time off and holiday pay rocked. The Christmas party and winning a prize were just icing on top of the cake.

It's Not You, It's Me
Sitting at the Training Table.Me: Um, we need to talk.
Utah: About what?
Me: It's over.
Utah: What?
Me: These late month booty-calls, they're just not worth it.
Utah: Why?
Me: It's just not working out, It's not you, it's me.
Utah: Is there another state?
Me: uh...
Utah: There is isn't there (sob) It's that slutty California isn't it?
Me: uh
Utah: You know her mountain range is fake. Mine are real and spectacular.
Me: yes they(cut off)
Utah: They used to be Appalachian sized! And don't get me started on that slutty Hollywood tattoo.
Me: you have...
Utah: My college initals are cute! They aren't some huge thing tattooed across my back.
Me: See, we don't agree on anything.
Utah: I have nice people, they're super! I'm down to earth and relaxed. California is way too high maintenance for you. You don't want that.
Me: CA has a beach though...
Utah: fine go play in that nasty clap trap.
Utah storms off.
Me: (picks up phone at the table) Check please.

Saturday
I went to Burger Supreme first, it was tasty.
Then it was golf. Since the last golf trip was a mess, I went to the driving range and hit balls. It was a lot better so I thought it would have been a better golf day. Nope. It was backed up and so there was usually this guy behind us waiting by the time we were able to hit.
Something about golfing in front of other people makes me rush and the crappy golf swing gets crappier. I blame it on a sore groin from playing goalie on Thursday. Showing up 5 mins late doesn't allow for you doing some things, like you know the important things...like stretching or getting warmed up. I also have a big bruise on in the inside of my left knee.
But yeah, not a good day of golfing in Spanish Fork.
Only Greg and I went. We had golf balls flying all around us, Spanish Oaks was busy!!
Then we dropped by the reservoir to see how busy it was and how cold the water was, it was packed and the water was cold.
We came back home and went to Carrabba's for dinner with Brandon, it was tasty.
At the end when the lady was giving us back our cards, she was like, "Thank you Mr. Farmer, Thank you Mr. Jones, Thank you Mr. Nak(mumble mumble)..." then turns and walks away.
Brandon was joking, what she said was, "Thank you Mr Na Na Not going to work here anymore"
David came down and we saw Pirates 3. I wasn't impressed. I didn't care for the 2nd one. The first one I liked the first time I saw it, but when I watched it again, it's just too long. So they're all too long. If it was shorter, they'd be ok I think. I'm sick of all the trilogies. Hollywood needs to stop.
I picked up the tickets. The volume is really loud in the lobby for some reason. They announce to the whole world, "Do you want to donate a $1 to _________." I said, "no thanks" David chimed out, "What you don't want to help the kids?!?!?!?" yeah...not embarrassing at all.
The A's only used the DL twice this week. Getting the total for the year up to 12. um they're just really gimpy people I guess. They're seventh in the AL with their .500 record. I really don't know how they're doing that well. It's pretty much a team of half Oakland A's/half Sacramento River Cats for a team.
They sure played like an AAA team in the majors. Putting up a line of .236/.302/.335. With RISP they hit .233, had a OBP of .283 and had 12 RBIs.
The pitchers threw up a line of 5.30 ERA, 1.47 WHIP, 2.8 K/9 IN. yeah not such a great team effort this week.

So yesterday was my friend's mom's wedding.
People were a bit confused why you'd go to a friend's mom's wedding.
But we all grew up together so they were like cousins and she was like an aunt.
So thats why I'm here.
It was the usual wedding.
Sealing at the SL temple.
pictures. While they were taking pictures. Janelle. David and I went to the Salt Lake Art Center. That was neato.
Luncheon at the Lion House.
drove to Lehi, and played with David's niece and nephew.
niece: I'm not ticklish.
(I tickle her)
niece: laughing, i'm not ticklish!!!!
me: um, I think you are.
niece: you're ticklish too (tickles my knee cap...)
REPEAT for about 30 mins
Four-year-olds are fun.
Then we drove down to Provo.
i dropped by 311, then we went to Goodwood. It was good, not great.
Then the night led to um, games almost.
It's hard to get six people to agree on something. Kendra from Sierra Vista moved out here this week. She went to the rival HS, was a grade older and was in the neighboring ward. Her and David were chums in seminary. There wasn't a Kubal in my grade so maybe I missed out. Eh maybe not. Thinking about it, I think pretty much all Sierra Vista had were blond girls...interesting. We had the surplus of asians, they had the surplus of blond girls and "different" guys.

Havasupai

Two months.
Off to Havasupai. It's going to be grand.
It's like a Bloggin' Buddies convention. Maybe this can be a non-profit organization and we can write off expenses for tax purposes.
website
Last year Greg and I wanted to head down there. But it never evolved anymore from wanting to go. Now thanks to Rebecca planning it. Off we go.

-I really think no one really likes anyone out here. Everyone is civil with someone til they leave, then they announce to everyone else dang he/she is _________ (negative adjective).
Alrighty there is something about this couch that just lets the mind dream.
I don't know where I was. It was something with a whole bunch of extended family though. I was walking around carrying the neph. and he was like solving world problems, with solutions that actually kinda made sense. It was crazy. Not even 1-year-old yet and solving things.
So yesterday I went and ate lunch with my buddy, Kevin at Demae. It was alrighty. Throughout the years, the whiter the help gets, the crappier the food gets. It makes me wonder whos cooking out back.
Golfing at Cascade was horrible. I sucked it up. But my putting was on. I two-putted everything. But when it takes you have a billion shots to get on the green. It doesn't really matter anymore.
playing goalie in hockey at West Valley was so-so.
Highlight: sliding across and saving a shot on a 2 on 0 breakaway.
Lowlight: there were a lot of crappy shots that trickled in.
triple Lowlight: getting off the rink (i borrowed all this goalie equipment, which was in poor condition and the skates were like 3 sizes too big) I step over the board and my foot shifts and I lose my balance and fall right on my back. Hilarity ensues, except for me lying on my back staring at the ceiling. I would have felt embarrassed, but if I saw that happen, I would be laughing too...
Result: 7-3 loss.
When we were going up there. Matt and I were sitting in the back seat of Cameron's 2-door civic. This girl looked in the back seat and saw that she would have to sit pickle in the middle. and gave the mature "ew i don't want to sit back there" look of disgust.
I had a couple things I wanted to shout out.
"Well I'm sorry, but you're no looker either"
"Just wait til we're done and you're sitting in a small car with three guys that just played hockey, we're not going to smell so peachy"
"Well F)#I* you too".
I guess its ok that I didn't say anything. Because from knee cap to shoulder we were smashed together. There was no skin contact on the other side. Of course you could probably fit like five Matt-sized people in the back seat of that small car...
Then we ended up having to go to Amanda's b-day party. eh.
End result: a horrible golf game, a so-so hockey game and two more days in sunny Utah.

Dreams
So I learned earlier this year, that sleeping on the couch in my old apt wasn't quite as nice as it used to be. Anyways it took a while to fall asleep.
This dream takes me back to San Jo. I used to work in a grocery store. In the dream I ended up back at the grocery store post-college. There was a friend that I used to work with there in HS. She was there too.
So I'm working all day and it finally slows down right before closing. So I catch up with her and ask her how life was since the last time I saw her.
College was great. Everything was great except finding a job. Oh and she's engaged which could be great. She shows me the ring. It's made out of LEGO. Since Lego are blocks, its just big and clumpy. But to get that diamond glow...there is a light in middle. But the battery is starting to die... hahhaha.
Oh and Utah has been Utah so far.
It was a 6-hour drive from Vegas. Everything is green in between here and Vegas. Which was nice. I saw a crappy Intramural game. Chalk another loss up for the old ward team! Bruce, Greg and I grabed some grub at Arby's. Its great if you want private dining. Go to Arby's, no one goes to Arby's. Every single time I've been. No one. Highlight of day 1: The bacon and cheese ciabatta at Jack in the Box. Oh and yes Ellie, I'm an apartment whore. 15 apartments in eight years. If beds were girls and those eight years were three TV seasons. I could play a doctor on Grey's Anatomy.

Year 4 and 5 Nicer Apts, More Travelin'
The Branbury Experiment(Spring/Summer 04)
I moved to Branbury. $225 for four months of rent in a newly remodeled apt(kinda, they weren't quite finish), with a 56-inch TV, full sized bed and your own room.
Scott, Aaron, David and I. Once again, the most entertaining apartment in the ward. Sure it seems a bit conceited but you didn't know the quality of people in this ward, people need to realize that an entertainment rotation of going to the movies, watching DVDs, playing games gets old. So we broke it up, trips to Salt Lake, hikes, etc.
The ward had issues, it was small. Like 40 people. So it was like a branch. Church was in the JSB auditorium. So when you cram 40 people into a room that sits like 1400, it looks even more pitiful.
Highlights: Bessie, she was fun.
The end of Branbury trip to Las Vegas and then David went home in Mexico, I went home to CA.
Timp Gateway (The President Hales tenure, Fall 04/Winter 05)
So after a lot of "I'll just move wherever" thinking. I really looked this time around. Off to Timp Gateaway. It was brand new and because of this, we didn't notice the iffy construction or the cheap materials.
It was a David/Greg/Kaaku apartment. So diverse, a mexican, american and japanese american. Let the racial slurs fire away.
The ward girlie girls were attractive, like ridiculously attractive.
We had the best FHE activities in the ward. Which wasn't hard, because we were the only ones that held FHE.
Highlights:
I became a dad! with a mexican wife and like 17 white kids, we adopted...I guess instead of picking just one, we took the whole orphanage.
Tubing in Midway.
Started golfing, hilarity ensues
Monday night date night.
Uncle Jaboo's foil dinner cook out in Rock Canyon.
Matt is a white kid thats ridiculously shorter than me, in gratitude he is added to the bloggin' buddies.
We HT Rebecca, I give 1 lesson that actually makes sense. about 3 that are random and would make sense if someone tied it in for me. But she didn't laugh and paid attention (or acted interested). So in gratitude, she's added to the bloggin' buddies.
It's not a school year without a trip to Vegas.
Greg's kidney stones.
Anti-Atikins part deux dinner
Bought a $40 acoustic guitar. It was actually a pretty nice guitar for only $40. it stays in tune rather well and sounds ok. It's no Ovation though.
Year 4 thoughts on Utah: pretty much the same as 3. It's alrighty.
Timp Gateway (The President Weber tenure, Spring 05-Summer 06) or Year 5, I have a nice apartment, I'm going to leave it.

We traded David for David. We wanted to make it easy on the landlord. This is the year I graduated (Dec 05), started bloggin (March 06) and became deadly accurate with a golf club and ball. 2 hit people in the summer of 05!!!
My sister also left town and Provo's asian population drops 10%
Highlights:Intramurals + this ward = losing
-Ellie is actually funny. Which for a girl is rare. added to the bloggin' buddies.
-Xango employees me and gives me Xango, a XMAS present and a cushy job.
2006 Chinese New Year Party
-Wafflelafafafafa (clap, clap, clap, clap, clap, clap woo!)
-2006 Cinco De Mayo Party
-hockey in Alpine rocks!
-Golf at Thanksgiving Point rocks!
Year 5's thoughts on Provo: So Utah has some nice people and nice places. But I'd rather be in California.
Overall thought of Utah: There are worse states. It was a good experience I suppose. There were no pregnancy scares at least!!! Five years in Provo and I'm still untethered and free to move where ever I please.

Year III: Roman Gardens (Spring 03-Winter 04)

So we grab our stuff and move on up to the eastside. Actually all we did was cross the street to the east of us. Two less roommates. Crappy carpet, but at least this time, it has some sort of pile...We did our laundry here, might as well live here.
There were like two other Kirks living in this complex? Other Kirks?!?!?! It was a fishbowl too. So you could be walking back to your apt and someone shouts out, "hey kirk, blahl blah blah blah" and you're like, what the devil are you talking about? Needless to say I avoided every, "kirk..." that I heard in the dreaded fishbowl.
Back to 2nd floor living. Amazingly, almost all of my Utah-living was done on a 2nd floor (except at Centennial and Heritage). We brought Jacob with us. John and I were in the south bedroom. Jacob and James (the one guy that stayed in the apt were in the north). So it was like JJJK. what a great apartment.
We traded James to the East coast for a roommate to be named later. That seems like a bad trade.
But James never really talked to us. If there was any talking, we had to force it. Needless to say, it turned out he left his machete and that was more entertaining than James.I took a couple hacks out of his bed's head board with it. It was fun. I was going to get some melons and chop those up but his sister took the machete away.
So now it JJK. Three people in a 4-person apt. It's so roomy.
John goes off to teach youth the joys of not drinking a quart of Jack.
Now its just JK. Jacob is engaged. So it's like living with a cancer patient. The wife-to-be is always visiting and blah blah blah.
The engagement soon spreads to the other organs and takes Jacob. He's dead, lost to marriage.
So it's just K. Really though, one person in a two-bedroom apartment, its sweet.
The sweetness soon becomes KK. Kevin moves in. It took a couple months for the Kaaku/Kevin combo to start gelling. But after that we were gelling like those Dr Scholls shoe insert wearers on the commercials.
Via phone, John: Did Kevin move in yet?
Me: yeah.
John: How is he?
Me: ok, I guess
John: don't you guys talk?
Me:eh...
John: how come?
Me: He watches daytime TV and reads at night?
john: what?!?!?!
John comes back from teaching kids the dangers of Jack on a 16-year-old empty stomach. Mission accomplished. Those kids are probably off their missions now and married with kids. Now it's a JKK apartment. The roommate to be named later was, Greg. He moved in while we were out running errands or something. We come back and he's unpacked. We were gone like two hours... And this is not a little bit of stuff, he has tons of stuff. Stuff is hanging in the closet, books are on shelves. Who unpacks this fast? So many colored collared shirts? Books about French? He must be gay. Kevin is noticeably worried. A GJKK apartment? hm.
Well turns out Greg isn't gay. He becomes an important fixture in the apartment. The guy that laughs. I can't speak for John or Kevin. But I sure feel funnier when someone is laughing at what I'm saying. It was like a bio-dome of entertainment. Sure there were like 35 other apartments in the complex. But we didn't need any of them. Why out-source for inferior entertainment?
There aren't too many memories this year with non-apt number 213 dwellers. Most of them are about James (Greg's friend who has an unbelievable talent at seeing how far he can push you) and his daily exploits of alienating other residences.
HighlightsShooting staples at Jenny that was a hoot!

Pictures: LeeElle cant handle Dancing with the Stars, Sledding the bowl, went back in time to 1982...we were called as the Bountiful 5th Ward's bishopric, Greg and I in Eastern Utah, who would have though Colin and Kevin had the same footsie PJs?!?!?!, Our fake fireplace, that with the one wall of wood paneling gave it a ski lodge feel.
Year 3's thoughts on Utah. Eh. It's alright, but it's no California. It does have some attractive people in it though and should I be concerned that I have been killed in Monopoly like 252 times by a pre-teen?
Chinese SUPERSTAR
Jordan showed me this...HAHAHA.
So instead of getting a Masters in Accounting from BYU. He goes to China. Classic RM diagnosed with Yellow Fever.
Serves mission. (Gets infected)
Goes back on a 10-week Finance Internship (he sees the things they won't let missionaries look at, the infection spreads)
Infected with Class III yellow fever, he dumps his normal high aspiring life plans.
To become a Chinese SUPERSTAR, find a Chinese woman that is amazed that he's American and has an American 陰茎...falls in love and passes away to marriage. NuSkin is a sponsor of one of his songs hahahahahha, MLMs, they're fun companies.

I listened to a couple song samples. Its not techno enough for Asia. It doesn't have enough broken english. Oh Mormons are a peculiar bunch. Sister Heigl, then this.

Year 2 (The Centennial 2 year, Fall 02/Winter 03)
So this move wasn't planned out quite as well as it should have been. I come back to Utah (with a car!!! I can leave campus now). I didn't really want to spend my time looking for an apartment. So I took the easy way out. David lived in Centennial 1 and liked it enough. My logic was most things get better with the number 2... Not with Hollywood mainstream movies and not here (see the picture? asians can't smile, they can't see, slanty eyes get slantyier! It's ridiculous, so ridiculous that slantyier is not even a real word. Thats why Asians don't smile. oh um those were the roomies, it was a strangely entertaining experience.)At the First activity, the first new person I talk to says, "My friend got married so she can have sex now" wow, honesty is fun.
I try it out. different girl: Do you like me?
Kaaku: No (I just met you, why would I like you).
different girl (but the same as the previously mentioned girl): this guy doesn't like me!
Kaaku: yeah...(hmm honesty isn't working out as well as it should have, crazy girl).
Throughout the evening she introduced me as the guy that doesn't like her. It opened doors, let me tell you.
It all worked out in the end. Other people thought she was annoying too. Even though all my mission apartments were nicer than this particular apartment complex. The quality of people made up for it (well to survive the year). Once again nothing in common with any of them. But they were nice people.
Nice people, but not like I was going to go out of my way to meet people. Some how I ended up knowing the names of almost everyone by the end.. Go figure. That picture up and to the right is when we were going to go smashing. The police came. yay cops.
The events of this year were pretty memorable it seems, since there is a good deal of reminiscing done about this year on the blog.

Met Seth
Met Sarah
This post pretty much reminisced for a good hour
There are more postings about this exciting year of my life, once Google indexes the blog, that search bar on the right hand side will have some use.
One picture is the mold that died when we cloroxed it (right before we moved out, yeah should have thought about it when we moved in)...like three feet of Centennial two is slightly underground. So um there is mold...whatever.
The other picture is me before I learned how to putt...oh wait I still haven't learned how to put quite yet...will someone teach me how to read a green properly?!?!?! See the quality pile of carpet in Arcadia #4? Well quality compared to the blue carpet backing of C1.
Year 2's thoughts on Utah: So I guess there are fun people that make this state alrighty...
So I Lied
I said about a month ago, "this will be the last post that I will ever write about me being in Utah." POST Um, I'm going back. Not for kicks and giggles mind you. My friend's mom is getting married. Its not like just anyone Joe Schmo's friend's mom, it's like family...You have to go Utah for family...right? Even if its like family but...I don't know. whatever.
So back to my old home. Now we can reflect on the old home with pictures!
Year 1 (Fall 99, Winter 00, Winter 02)
So little 18-year-old Kaaku goes off to Utah for college. The longest I've ever been on my own was two three-week-stints. Australia/New Zealand of 95 and the BSA National Scout Jamboree of 97. Hilarity and good times should ensue.
Kinda... (Fall 99)

So off to DT, Q Hall. Other colleges have spring breaks with crazy stuff. BYU does college a bit different (At least the regular student body, BYU football players still get their hanky panky...tisk tisk tisk.)
Highlights of this semester are movie marathons, purchasing a bass guitar, smashing some one's furby...(Three cups of Y Sparkle and we're crazy, yeah BYU rocks!!!) BYU's athletic department wasn't boring, they gave away stuff. And I'm not talking about shooting half a dozen T-shirts into the stands. I'm talking about. Rob "The Freight Train" Whistles. Sure handing out a bunch of
potential wooden projectiles might be a bad idea. But things were different in the 20th century. Fans threw tortillas and some tried to beat up cheerleaders.
This semester was one of the more social semesters. Something about living in a room the size of a walk-in closet makes people leave doors open. When people leave doors open, other people tend to walk in with ...fake boobies. (I don't remember his name, I know he lived at the end of the hall, I think Eddie knows, I want to say it was Robert Hall, but I could be way off...Eddie help me out)
Stop the Ride! I Want Off (Winter 00)
A month after the first semester ended. I went off to the MTC. Yay for mental beatdowns...
Hey why doesn't someone remind me that I look Japanese and I don't speak Japanese...so that could cause a problem. 2542152x a day. Super.
Highlights: MTC comp has a varicose vein pop, pouring blood into the shower area... We're standing under a tree of life butt naked looking down at a huge puddle of blood. On a completely unrelated note, I was the funniest kid in the MTC. Seriously, people were bent over crying from laughing so hard. Maybe my MTC comp laughed so hard so often...that the vein blew...It's like milk coming out of someone's nose. Except it's blood from the calf...

Anti-Social Kaaku (Winter 02)
Off to Heritage Halls. My Heritage ward was different... So I didn't talk to anyone. In DT I had fun because I could, in the MTC I had fun to try and stay sane. I gave up here. When I talked to people it was because they talked to me or because someone made me talk to them (Jason and all his double dating, pssh)
Highlights: bought a guitar, one of my home teachee's apartments took me for a girl's night out...(laugh all you want, we home taught the only two apartments that weren't special daughters of Zion). Goblin Valley State Park is neat, way out of the way but neat. I went to a lot of shows with Jocelyn and Alisa. A lot. Did I mention I bought a guitar?
Year 1's thoughts on Utah: Three more years and I'm sooo out of here.

Go Oakland Go
For the week, the batters put up a line of .290/.396/.465
with runners in scoring position. .233 AVG/.385 OBP/32 RBI.
Bobby Crosby has a nine-game hit streak!
The pitchers put up a line of 3.88 ERA, 6.2 K/9 IN, 1.31 WHIP.
The bullpen sucked it up (5.90 ERA) and the A's only have a 4-3 week to show for it.
So a quarter of the baseball season is over, the A's have used the DL 10 times already and somehow they have the 5th best record in the AL. It's amazing.

So There is This Artist...
in Chicago that is "living" in front of a webcam and a paintball gun. His exhibit is called Domestic Tension. I was expecting to see a room covered in paint. You can "aim" the gun and shoot it. When I looked at his website, I did not see paint covered stuff and I didn't see him. Of course it was like 2:00 central time when I took a look at it. website

Wordpress vs Blogger
So I was thinking of changing to wordpress earlier. Now I'm just torn.
Things I like about blogger.
-Since it is a google program. It is nice having everything automatically log in to my picasa account, gmail, igoogle, etc.
-I don't have to inconvenience anyone and make them change their bookmarks, rss feed subscription, links, etc.
-Because it is a google program, it is popular. Everyone on the bloggin' buddies list uses it except for a handful using myspace or wordpress. So it is easy for people(if they decide to) leave comments.
Wordpress does have nicer (I think they look a little bit classier) templates and as I mentioned before the RSS feed and visit counter is already embedded. You can't edit the counter at all though...
I'm trying to find a template that lets you customize it (I don't want to fiddle with the HTML, I rather just upload a picture or two and have it spit out the code for it).
EDIT: It actually transfered all 300 some odd posts from blogger to wordpress rather quickly. In like three minutes it was all moved over. So chime in what you think of the layout. I'm still playing with it, so we'll see what is the final result.
There are some layout issues on the posts with multiple pictures from the import though.

Um...Ok
So recently I've had a problem remembering dreams. I know they happened, but when I wake up, all I can remember is the fact that I had one or a strange tidbit (eg the other night I had braces (you know for teeth) and they just..fell off).
So this is really like three separate dreams or one dream that bounces around like a "Lost" season 2 episode with fifteen different flashbacks.
Starts out with me going to Institute. I don't know why. I've never been to institute. I've never seen any movies or TV shows or anything about it. So I have no idea how to dream about it. For some reason I liked it. Which is strange on so many levels.
Well I get home, my parents are yelling at me for going. I'm yelling back (once again never been, so I don't know why I'd be fighting to go). It gets messy. That was that.
Next I'm in some Econoline sized van with the family and some extended family. Some of us get out and walk to this plane. At this point, I realize I only have one shoe on. So I run off towards the van. Catch it at a light, put my shoe on and run back.
I run into a building I figure to be the terminal or what not, instead its like a pet store/terminal... sure whatever. Run right through it onto the tarmac.
Well in the couple of minutes I was running to the van and back, the tarmac filled up with some Indian-like people preparing to go to war. Not like modern day warfare with guns and what not. They have like sticks and war drums are playing and they're advancing towards another large body of people. At this point I think, maybe I should have just left with one shoe on. I'm also thinking I should have saved the parrot that was sitting in the pet store/terminal.
I keep running around, til this Indian looking guy points to the plane. I start running towards it. cramp up, so I kinda run sideways towards it. It starts to speed up down the runway towards me. I'm waving my hands around. It slams on the brakes, I duck under the wing as it comes screeching to a stop (it could have cut off my head!). The door opens up and I hop in.
The plane takes off, I look out the window and see all these groups of people advancing towards one another. Crazy!
You know how when someone thinks they're in love? They're like pathetically stuck at the hip or something. yeah...
There were two other couples. I'm taking a shot in the dark and guessing it was Kevin and John and their significant others because those are the only two people I've spent anytime with and their significant others.
So it's three couples sitting on three loveseats, hanging out all together but just quietly discussing with their special someones, errands they had to run (gag, yes, I should have been killed in the Indian uprising).
Well I'm grabbing soap suds and piling it up on top of my significant other and she doesn't care, since she's so love stricken.
Finally she's like, we should go to the grocery store first, we have no food. So off we go.
Next thing I know we're pushing a cart around in a grocery store. She's a brunette and about as tall as I am...She's changed her top of course, since she was covered in soap suds. But she's actually funny! Imagine that a girl that's funny... This is like a 1 in 3420 find here. It's not that hahahaha pity laugh funny. It's like genuinely enjoyable funny.
I throw vegetables in the cart, she doesn't like vegetables. I throw a half gallon of chocolate ice cream, she doesn't like chocolate. I'm a bit confused...
Then I wake up.

Time For A Change
So I've had this template on the blog for about 15 months now, I think it is time for a change. I'll be looking around at different templates and what not. Hopefully it will be a change for the better.
I've also looked at wordpress. They've always been a decent blog provider. I created a site over there just to get a more in depth look at what they have to offer. I know I got you all on the bloggin craze. Look at all you ______.blogger.com folks in the bloggin buddies. You all started up after me, I'm such a trend setter!
I imported the superasian blog over to wordpress, it was rather fast (of course this blog is about 15x bigger).
So far I like the fact that it has a tracker system already. So you can check out how many folks are looking at the page, it also tracks how many people subscribe to your blog via RSS feeds.
I don't know if these changes are enough to make the five of you or so that look at my blog change your bookmarks and links just because I like to move. I was only on MSN Spaces for five months. My physical address changes more than my blog address. haha.

Another Second Round Exit
90 second flashback to game 3.
So Kirelinko is six inches taller than Davis...Foyle's face at the end of the clip is priceless...
So the past year has been a bit sad. Second round exits galore.
The Sharks lose in six to Detroit.
The Warriors lose in five to Utah.
The A's lose in four to Detroit.
I guess it makes it a little better that they were the underdogs.
Stanford didn't get out of the 1st round for March Madness (they were the underdog).
The 49ers, Giants and Raiders couldn't have bought their way into the playoffs.
So Huston Street has been DL'ed. Pretty much all of the A's have been DL'ed and the season is only 1/5 of the way done. the only reason the rest of the A's haven't been DL'ed is because you have to trot someone out there. So we trot out our backup infielder to play RF...The A's need a new medical staff (and these teams need to improve and get out of the second round).
It was neat to see a sea of gold for the Warriors home playoff games. It would have been neat to see a sea of blue at BYU once, instead of the checkered sea of green, white, blue, red, yellow, pink and black. Heck even Utah gave the student section red T-shirts (I blame Merrill J. for the poor athletic watching experience). Yeah my college experience was totally lacking in certain aspects.

Wiki How

has an article on how to mosh. article
Wiki-how really does tell you how to do anything.
I think we can do away with parents. and just sit eight-year-olds in front of a computer kiosk. They can search wikihow for whatever they want to learn how to do. Then go out and do it.
My moshing days ended in March 2004. We were hanging out in Las Vegas at some outdoor show. Asphalt, 8 hours of "rock and or roll" and 95-degree "Spring" heat led to bloody knees(Vegas kids are just kind of jerks in pits).
It also was a good point in my life to end the whole getting covered in other people's bodily fluids, worrying about avoiding that crazy dyke girl's studded bracelet as she rocked out, elbows to the back of the head, and getting kicked in the head by crowd surfers.(I realize some of you are wondering why you'd ever want to go in a pit, David had an entertaining little post called, Ode to the Cuddle Show, that touches on why)
Shows pretty much made college life not so boring. There were hundreds of trips made up to Salt Lake. The first week of April 03 I did four shows, AFI, Millencolin, NUFAN and TBS. Best week ever. Then there were the out of state trips. Four trips to Las Vegas for TBS, Coheed, Say Anything and whatever that outdoor show was. We went off to Kansas City to see the last TGUK show. Heck even when I was on the mission, Alisa kept me up to date on her almost weekly show going and I lived vicariously through her for that.
It can be a fun place to people watch. There was a mother-daughter combo rocking out to Ok Go in Salt Lake(2006). Or watching Jocelyn fall on her butt on a half pipe in Salt Lake @ the Ataris show(1999). All entertaining.
I don't think these rules were ever enforced... Slim's @ San Francisco, CA. Alisa took this picture. The picture above that is Greg, me, Kevin and Tim @ The Uptown Theater is Kansas City, MO. Some stranger took this picture with Tim's camera.
The picture above that is Finch @ Warped Tour '02.
The picture above that was stolen off the Internet. But there are one of those at every show.
Jack Cust!!!
So the A's re-acquired Jack Cust from San Diego. He hit five HRs in 70 career Major League baseball games for the Diamondbacks, Rockies, Orioles and Padres before this year.
He put up an A-Rod like week of stats in his first seven games.
.346/.469/1.077 6 HRs, 14 RBIs, 6 BB, 11 SOs
A-Rod's first seven games of the 2007 season.
.357/.471/1.107 5 HRs, 17 RBIs, 5 BB, 4 SOs
Getting A-Rod like numbers for about $26 million less a year. Not bad Jack. Of course Jack will eventually cool off, heck even A-Rod cooled off.
Rotoworld gave him some love though.
Barry Bonds, David Ortiz, Vladimir Guerrero... There are some major league hitters you just can't let beat you in the late innings of a close game. Chief among them all, however, is almost certainly Jack Cust. Cust would have gotten his chance years ago, but every GM in baseball knew that to use him was to risk shaking the very foundation of the game. That Cust has had to wait until 28 for regular playing time will probably prevent him from reaching 1,000 career homers, which is a shame. Still, 500 is very much in reach, perhaps by the end of the season.
Thanks for putting on an A's uniform Jack. We're 5-2 when you do. Here's his walk-off home run on Mother's Day.

What Do You Think of Mother's Day?
Happy Mother's Day

(remember making these plates? I do. I googled a mother's day image and this popped up...Gavin must really love his mom, with all those hearts...)
Apparently I didn't do a Mother's Day post last year. It was fun.
So I used to spend a lot of time talking to Ellie online while at work. There are archives on top of archives saved (The only time MSN Messenger has ever had to archive anything was with Camille...).
So that pretty much means its a ridiculous amount of talking.
Well if you've ever talked to me before, you'd know conversations with me are like 79% fluff.
4/19/2006 12:22:41 PM Ellie:you're a good son
4/19/2006 12:22:48 PM Ellie:its a point of bitterness for my mom
4/19/2006 12:22:52 PM Kirk:what
4/19/2006 12:22:58 PM Ellie: my brothers never send cards
4/19/2006 12:23:02 PM Ellie: b-days, mothers day
4/19/2006 12:23:09 PM Ellie:its a miracle if they remember to call
4/19/2006 12:23:34 PM Ellie:she says they won't get married until they can send her a card for something
4/19/2006 12:23:41 PM Kirk:hahah
4/19/2006 12:23:47 PM Kirk:i'll send her a mother's day card
4/19/2006 12:23:49 PM Kirk:hahahah ahah ahahahahaha
4/19/2006 12:23:55 PM Kirk:Ellie's friend sent me a card
4/19/2006 12:23:58 PM Kirk:why can't you
4/19/2006 12:24:01 PM Kirk:hahahahaha hahahahahaaha
4/19/2006 12:24:18 PM Ellie:that would be so funny
4/19/2006 12:24:23 PM Ellie:i dare ya
4/19/2006 12:24:32 PM Kirk:she'd totally heart me
anyways, I sent the card and she did totally heart me.
I got e-cards the rest of the year. Rachel was jealous, stating, "I've known her for longer and never got an e-card..."
Anyways, I was sprawled out on Ellie's couch watching TV on mother's day. Ellie comes out of her room and hands me her phone, "uh, my mom wants to talk to you..."
We have a nice little chat, then I hand the phone back to Ellie, who post-phone call, is a little perplexed that her mother asks to talk to me on mother's day.
Eventually, I end up at 311 on their couch. Emily asks, "Did you call your mom today?" "I talked to Ellie's mom today!" Emily (a little confused), "you didn't call your mother?" "Nope, I talked to her a couple of days ago." She grabs my phone and starts flipping through the contacts, gives up and hands me my phone, "Call your mom." "fine."
It was a short conversation...
Oh and the A's won today, down by two in the bottom of the ninth. They put a nice big five on the scoreboard for that frame. All with two outs too! They won last mother's day too. I guess the A's love their mommies.
Apparently we're still over-fishing NY Times Magazine article. Thats a shame, because wild fish tastes like 352 times better than farmed fish.

Dallas Braden
So Dallas Braden was called up from AAA and makes his third start for the A's today. Hopefully its more like his first start than his second.EDIT: So Dallas lost, thats a shame.
The A's bats stepped it up this week, but it helps when you play the Devil Rays, Royals and Indians (though the Indians are playing pretty well so far).
They put up a line of .302/.385/.535. That's pretty good, they went 4-2.
The pitchers threw up an ERA of 2.72 and a whip of 1.13.
They had five errors in six games though(three were in today's game though).

Hey Fellow Gmail Users
The good news, if you’re a Gmail user, is that you may be part of the elite: while Yahoo and Hotmail users are decidedly average, Gmail users tend to be young, have a high income, and be early adopters of technology. 54% of users are between 18 and 34, while 18% have an average annual household income between $100,000 and $149,999 (compared to 15% for Hotmail and 13% for Yahoo Mail). Another stat, probably related to the young age of GMail users: they’re more likely to be Facebook users than those on the other services.

So My Buddy Came Across This on Youtube
It's like the ineffective example in the missionary guide on how to bear your testimony...I don't have mine on me, but its pretty much that example, just with some Greg Olsen pictures and music.
The first link that appeared after I watched this was...Lego Ammon!!!
It is like Apocalypto, just without the gore...
He also put together this one...
which apparently is a spoof of this Pepsi commercial, which I've never seen til I searched for it on youtube.

So I'm Really Beginning to Get Sick of Detroit

The Tigers swept the A's in ALCS.
The Red Wings shut down the Sharks.
It pretty much felt like last year. Probably because it was almost the same thing.
Game 6 a 2-0 loss. spring 06, check. spring 07 check.
After taking care of the Predators in five games in the first round. Started out the 2nd round great but then kinda just sputtered out.
Pronger, Smith and Roloson kinda just shut down the Sharks last year.
This year it was Lidstrom, Chelios and Hasek.
Oh well maybe next year they'll get over that hump.
It took the A's a while to get passed the ALDS. Good try Los Tiburones. Good try.
I guess I'll just have to pay attention the Baron Davis beating Boozer and the Jazz.
EDIT: The contestant on Deal or No Deal got $400 hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahaha. which is obviously better than the other case, which was $25...
Elliott Smith

So the "new" Elliott Smith CD that comes out tomorrow/today/yesterday (depending on when you read this post) is pretty sweet.
I like CDs that come out 3.5 years after the artist died. This is pretty much a collection of demos and b-sides and what not. So it's not like Tupac, releasing as many CDs post death as before death.
It's a great CD if you want to drown your slight jealousy of someone getting a free Damien Rice ticket... even if his last CD wasn't quite as good as "O".
Hot vs. Cool Media
So in 2004, we set up a list of apartment goals so we could push each other and we even wrote them down. Failed miserably. 2005, we added a monetary fine, 25 cents in an old mason jar, the contents which would be dumped into a tithing envelope and left as a Book of Mormon fund donation at the end of the semester. That lasted a month or so and the jar quickly filled til we ran out of change and with the running out of change, the goal accomplishing stopped.
One of my goals was to do 30-mins of fun, non-Internet good old fashion book reading. Obviously I suck at keeping goals, but usually there is a book somewhere that slowly gets read and thats why I bought No Country For Old Men.
So I finished up No Country For Old Men and it got me thinking. How much do I actually retain from reading?!?!? (not much since I usually did piss poor on tests that had questions that started out, from the reading... of course I didn't fare much better on questions that started out, from class Prof. _______ said...)
Obviously with cool media, you have to think a lot more to figure out whats going on. Reading a book you, just read and try to figure things out from the words. With movies/video games/TV/etc you can hear/see/feel (depending on how big of a subwoofer you have)/smell (NBC's must-smell TV episode of My Name is Earl). With all these senses going, you can create an image in your head a whole lot easier.
So I thought about it, and I could only come up with about one or two sentences about books I've read in the past and you could probably figure those things out by reading the title. e.g. Memoirs of a Geisha, "oh thats a book about a geisha growing up. There's some slight whoring out and her older geisha roommate person is kind of a jerk to her..." (I never got around to seeing the movie, the whole Chinese actors thing kinda turned me off it)
The sad thing is I could probably story board out any movie I own (that I've watched). Obviously, it wouldn't be perfect. But it would be a lot more in depth than two sentences.
Reading does get some of the ole neurons firing in the brain. Which is probably one of the reasons why you have a greater sense of accomplishment after you finish reading a book than when you finish watching a DVD. I suppose I should read more, maybe I could say three to four sentences about a book then.

San Jose Sharks
Tomorrow night, 6 PM, Game 6 Detroit @ San Jose.So historically San Jose hasn't done too hot in game 6s. They are 2-9. They are 28-20 at home in the playoffs. Not bad, but not great either (game 6s @ home, 1-4). If they can force a game seven for Wednesday there could be celebrating in San Jo streets. They are slightly better in game 7s, 3-2 even though they struggle on the road, 23-33 (they've never played a game 7 at home).
Game 1s 10-8
Game 2s 7-11
Game 3s 12-6
Game 4s 10-8
Game 5s 6-11
Game 6s 2-9
Game 7s 3-2
$28 million to Roger Clemens for like four months of work. The Yankees are really desperate. The Red Sox's start must have really scared them. So he gets about $1.4 million a start. That's not bad until he remembers that AL batters are better than NL batters. He leaves the Astros and their lack of a run support in hopes of wins, but the Yankees started out the season 3 for 11 on save opportunities, so he still might struggle on getting those wins.
EDIT: 2-10 now in game 6s.

Baseball Post #51
So the A's put up a line of .265/.345/.387 this week. That batting average is probably about what you can expect from them. The on base percentage is decent, which helps when you're facing some so-so Devil Rays' pitchers for three of the five games.
They only won two games this week. Sad. They just can't figure out how to string along hits when runners are in scoring position.
The Sharks are facing elimination, Marleau has been non-existent in this series, 0 points in five games with a plus/minus of -5... So if the Sharks plan on winning game six then game seven...He'll probably have to show up. A couple power play goals couldn't hurt either.
Apparently there is suppose to be a Grey's Anatomy spin off... which I think is a horrible idea. Only one spin-off a decade seems to have any staying power. The Jeffersons, Frasier, and...thats all that I can think of really. But it is suppose to be about Kate Wash's character (who was born in San Jose, yay San Jo) I guess even Joey lasted two seasons, the Grey's folks might as well cash in and get a good run for their money in.
I started reading Cormac McCarthy's No Country For Old Men. It's entertaining. How can it not be? The back of the book states, "Encompassing themes as ancient as the Bible and as bloodily contemporary as this morning's headlines. No Country for Old Men is a triumph."
When I pulled it out of the Amazon.com box, I noticed the "soon to be a major motion picture" sticker on it, so I IMDB'ed it. The Coen brothers finished making it and it should be coming out later this year. It should be an interesting watch.
The Warriors play the Jazz in the 2nd round of the playoffs. Warriors basketball going on til at least mid-May. Who would have ever thought? Hopefully the Sharks pull it off so there is Sharks hockey until the end of the month.

Baseball Stadiums galore (That I've Seen A Game At)
The Kingdome in Seattle, WA. They blew it up... I don't remember how many games I saw at the Kingdome. Maybe three. It was a nice big building of nothing but concrete...So if you like concrete thats your place to be. Except its no longer there. Safeco Field is much nicer, I've never been there for a game though, just a tour.
Cashman Field in Las Vegas, NV It was alright. Its a bit crazy having like a 20-foot fence and dead center is 433 feet from home plate. So yeah. For a AAA park it works.
McAfee Coliseum in Oakland, CA. It used to be nice, then the Raiders moved back and they put this huge thing of seats...The last game I went to was against a wall. It smelled like spilt beer. I eagerly await Cisco Field in Fremont. They just need to figure out how to get a BART train down there.
Larry H. Miller Field in Provo, UT, its a nice park for a college. I've never seen an entire BYU game because they last like four hours. stupid slow pitchers. If you're just going to lob the ball to first as your pick off move, it's not going to catch the guy and it just makes the game longer.
San Jose Municipal Stadium in San Jose, CA, we were on tv once while we were there for a 4th of July firework show. That was neat. I haven't seen a SJ Giants game in who knows how many years. This it the park where I was the closest to ever catching a foul ball (and it wasn't all that close).
Franklin Covey Field in Salt Lake City, UT. It's a nice field. I always tried to see at least one Sacramento River Cats game a year when they came through Salt Lake. I think I saw them twice. Once Larry H. Miller let people sit on the grassy area for free for a week as a promotion and Xango gave me a pair of tickets for free once. Free baseball is always fun.
Phoenix Municipal Field, in Scotsdale, AZ. I saw that one spring training game this year. It was entertaining.
Coors Field in Denver, CO. This is probably the nicest stadium I've ever been. It was probably also the worst seats I've ever had. They were like third tier bleacher seats...Oh well I guess thats what happens when you decide to go to a baseball game on the way back from Kansas City. Tim got some fans talking to him with his Dodgers cheering...yeah, Greg/Kevin/I = don't talk to anyone if we don't know them. Tim = exact opposite. Thats cool though, it pays to be outgoing.

Parkway Crossing Stadium in Orem, UT. Um it looks a little better than the picture. I guess Google hasn't bought a photo of Orem in the last two years or so. I like the ballpark more than BYU's though. I think its because of the street in the background. The cars and their lights at night make for moving lights. It's neato.

Candlestick Park, in San Francisco, CA. It was always cold. I haven't been to the new field, but I'm sure it is cold there too. The nice thing about San Fran is the fog, unless you're watching a baseball game. Then its just kinda cold.
