Diversity Day...Topic...Asians.

*There has been a lot of fluff recently...for those of you that have waited it out... I present to you a post that isn't fluff.

So I get to work this morning. I am told to go straight to the front.. Right now. Now I'm going on four-hours of sleep. The last thing I wanted to do was start nodding off in front of everyone.

There is food there... so my grumbling ceases.

I grab some food. Sit down and we start. Diversity Day. Topic: Asians...

me: um...

First question: "who has Asian friends?"
(A few hands go up...)

co-worker that will go un-named: "Oh, there's Kirk."
(a few more hands go up, mind you there are three other asians that work here, I was the only one sitting in on this meeting)

"Ok now...who has asian enemies?"
(I'm the only one with my hand up... liars)

Go on learning about Asians... not a particualar nationality... a quick stereotypical overview of pretty much all of ASIA (you know that huge mass of color on the board game of Risk that you can never take over...)

To stay awake, I play The Office episode on Diversity day in my head... trying to keep the eye lids open...

Finally he asks me... "Where were you born?"
I reply, "huh? um, San Jose, CA."
him: "parents?"
me: Boise and Bakersfield...
him: "grand parents?"
me: CA, HI, WA, (I forgot OR...jajaja)
him: and after that?
me: Japan. I'm Japanese.
Nurse practitioner: but he has something cool about him that makes him more Asian.
me: I can do math and I own a Nintendo?
NP: NO... he lived in Japan for two years (beaming with pride, hahahaha. she's funny)
me: oh yeah.
teacher: Ohhh can you speak Japanese?
me: um, not really.

I did learn somethings though. Asians use circular communication. I must have fell asleep when learning about Circular communication (maybe not...there is no wikipedia article on Circular communication)... because as a Communications major, I never heard of it.

Pretty much you tell the whole story leading up to what you wanted to share instead of just saying what the crap you thought was so funny.

Yep I'm asian... i ramble about pointless crap all the time. Just look at this blog.

and with that, I apologize to whomever in Northern Utah that clicks from Reagan and Nicki's blog to mine... because my blog is crap. haha.

I Have Super Friends...(sarcasm)

I never thought I would be saying Kirk is the responsible one but that seems to be the case.

-Irene (facebook)

I am so responsible.... pffth.

So it looks like the Irene Death March in May is off... sad. I guess I still have Havasupai in June (18-20th). So I'm still kinda sorta going to the Grand Canyon. Irene is trying to see if we can go to Yosemite instead of the GC... which would be cool. since its closer and wouldn't be so freaking hot.

which leads up to...

if we just go to yosemite... can sarah come?!?!?

Irene
I don't know if she can get work off but I will call her and ask her if she can come. I am sure she will be thrilled to know that you want her to come so badly.

I don't know what I could do with a single mother of two in the middle of nowhere... but whatever, probably more than Irene and her sister combined. Build campfires? eat smores? whatever.

Utah High Schoolers Are Crazy.

So Greg got LeeElle'd yesterday.

kid accordions his car into Greg's car's hitch.

Greg sees doctor.

doctor says... just your standard whip lash.

Greg really isn't your standard kid though doctor. He'll probably die soon... I call dibs on... well... hmm... do I really want 15 different sweaters of the same cut?

Jessica got hit by a high school girl. High schoolers: -2. Friends: 0
I got hit by a high school kid in 2004. High schoolers: -3.

Apparently you can't say you lived in Utah without getting your car run into by a Utahn high schooler...

Was Kevin smashed into by a high schooler in 2002?

I blame it on the new license plates... you look at them and wonder, why is the sky red?!?! is that a sign of the Apocalypse?

oh and the A's 14! angels 2. A's alone in first place with 1/6 of the season done. who'd a thunk?!

Wanting What Doesn't Make Any Sense

So when I went running Wed night. I felt great. Like I could go on for a good long while. Saturday... I felt like I wanted to die. (I ran by a dog run-over/stuck under a cop car, that was sad...maybe, I don't know what happened, I just ran by).

It was hot this weekend though. So that could have been why I wanted to die.

I think I have a huge mental block to running. If I don't think about it, its not so bad... but when I'm alone with my thoughts, counting down to the end. It bites me in the butt. So I need legit goals. But I don't have any... really... do I?

-I want to play ice hockey again... I don't know why. I like the sport and all but past experience has been slightly disappointing.

When I played goalie with Matt and his friends. that was fun. So that is a plus one in why I want to play.
But I couldn't score in crappy BYU intramurals... only one lousy goal. rocked the D though.. so maybe just -1.

So yeah... all my hockey playing experience in the past three years... isn't much and none of it is ice hockey experience.

-The Grand Canyon trip might not go through. So the motivation of wanting to die really really good lookin on the floor of the Grand Canyon, is currently on hiatus.

too bad i can't trade skills...like my skills of avoiding LRRMRF's ambushes... and trading it for endurance skillz... or making people disappear skillz (there are people hindering me achieving things I want and its annoying, if only we were in South America...

If It Works… Why Change It?

Wes Anderson movies
I watched the Darjeeling Limited this weekend. It was a bit better than ok, had some laugh out loud moments (I love you too, but I’m going to mace you). But Wes has been in kind of a rut for a while. Kinda thought he would have eventually stepped it up a notch.

Mario Kart
Ok so Nintendo has pretty much released the same five games over and over on each console. But, playing online kinda rocks. I can’t figure somethings out. But yeah…

San Jose Sharks
I still have no idea how this team can’t get motivated… Versus wasn’t working last night, so I kept trying it. Finally near the end of the 2nd period. It was working. Sharks 2, Stars 1. Then they fell apart in the third… great. Games I’ve watched on TV, they’re 1-4. Games I couldn’t watch because it wasn’t shown out here, they’re 3-1.
Hmmm. FIRE RON WILSON NOW!!!

The A’s are still in First in the AL?!?!
This just perplexes me. I was going to be happy if they were a .500 team this year. And yet they keep on winning. I get to go to the A’s/Angels game on Thursday. Some person or something in the ward is doing that for their birthday party. The RS president is trying to make me social or something... I haven’t been to an A’s game in almost two years. They lost then, I hope they don’t lose Thursday.

Nicold conversations
“I’m TIRED”
“why don’t you go to bed”
“I don’t know”

This continues for like 30 minutes… I guess it works, its like clockwork. I know I have 30 minutes left.

The Awkward Silence Breaks...

(I know there might be a surplus on fluff pieces right now.. but bare with me. Something good may come up... eventually.. maybe.)

There has been a little chess match going on between me and my co-worker.
I am losing. Link

today (Round 5)

Co-worker: what do you got planned this weekend?
me: nothing
co-worker: good I'll have my sister call you.
me: *awkward sil...* wait, what?!?!?!

(Now she was quite sneaky in getting my phone number. last week, she had to go pick up her kid... and asked for me to call her if people were asking where she was... then she would hurry. I was like... I have no idea what my number is... she was like just call my phone and i'll have it... "oh ok," said the naive kid.

earlier today (round 4)
Co-worker: do you like make-up?
me: what do you mean?!
C: make-up? do you like girls to wear make-up?
m: um.... some is good?
C: what do you mean?
m: like not too much...but some never hurt.
C: well my sister...she doesn't wear make-up. and my sister and I tried to get her to put some on so I could take a picture to show you...
m:awkward silence...
C: So do you think I should get her to wear some make-up to take the pic?

(red flag #23422)

m: awkward silence...
C:hey!!
m: oh my look at all this work we have.
C: hey...look over here.
m:awkward silence...
C: hey come on look over here.
m: *not looking and sitting silently...*
C: *stands up* hey look!
m: oh my look at me...busy working.. ON YOUR WORK!
C: thanks for helping me out... look.
m: can't... busy working...
C: fine I'll just stick the camera in front of you.

(I close my eyes and type away... she looks at the picture...)

C: HEY!!!!
M: what?
C: you know!
M: I can't help it... I'm a squinter...

I Sell Out Even in Dreams?!?!

So I don't know where I was living... All I know is there was a mormon girl that lived there too... maybe I was working in the Betty Ford clinic and living there... because there was a celeb that someone was trying to get in to film the celeb being messed up or something. The mormon girl was a strict no... I on the otherhand listened to their pleas... I was told I could be given a job... that was interesting. I think I sold out the celeb.

because the next thing I knew, I was anchoring a news channel.. or something.

Drunk Ducks

Parros and his porn star stache.

Perry sits alone in the dark and thinks about his lack of work...

Perry lost his shirt?!?

So I got a text last night from the ex-wife. She went to a bar with a friend. Got stuck bar-tending somehow... then there were Ducks there.

hahaha suckers.. no more work for you til training camp in Sept.

I asked her to offer $20 to get Parros to shave his mustache off.
I asked her to also ask Perry how the leg was...then kick it.

she did neither... sigh.

JAHO vs. LRRMRF

20 months ago I left Xango. Even though I spent 12 months at Xango. I really didn't talk to anyone unless I HAD to. So obviously there was no one I would introduce as this is my friend ______. Water under the bridge.. who cares right? Well some people probably would care... I really didn't, because I'm just unique in that aspect.

Well what started out with MSN messenger and sitting at work with short "well...i'm quite bored and talking to you for 5 mins is slightly better than sitting here doing nothing" talks... then with facebook... then with blogger blogs... and finally they found out that I actually judged my friends on blog content. A little arms war erupted.

Start April 2006... I go to Lehi. Jessica takes over for me in SOJO. Which led to "this is what you're suppose to do here" talks. Reagan was manning the front desk in Lehi so that led to a rare "some guy on the phone has a will call question here talk to him since Colin is somewhere else" talk.

J: 0, R: 0

Summer 2006: Their thoughts... "As a Utahn... I've never had a minority as a friend... maybe if I invite him to my wedding he'll point me to a good dry cleaner"

J:.56, R:.50 (Just due to the angry rant about Richard not graciously accepting the invite too).

Jessica brings cookies to work one day we had to work together.
J:1, R:.5

I find out that Reagan likes baseball...
J:1, R: 10

oh she's a Red Sox fan...pffth
J:1, R:1

Occasional trip to Utah in the first half of 07. drop by and say hi.
J:1, R:1

AUG 2007

They start bloggin... its mildly interesting.
J:2, R:2

I start facebookin...I start talking to Reagan 3242x more...Jessica maybe 232x more.
J:5, R:7

end of 07
J:10, R:16

Jessica ups the anty and shares her BFF with me
J:16, R:16

... leads to almost laugh out loud 3-way convos
J:19, R: 16

Reagan counters by sharing her friend
J:19, R:18

Jessica sends cookies...Kaakun eats a gallon-bag of cookies in one sitting, bad idea.
J:22, R:18

Reagan ups the facebook anty...
J:22, R:21

Jessica decides to read the WHOLE FREAKING blog back from the beginning really crappy days up to the just crappy days of today.
J:23, R:21

hahaha Reagan threatens bodily harm if I don't say she's winning this competition...
J:23, R:24

and because of the eventual threat from Jessica of bodily harm.
J:24, R:24...

I really have to learn how to defend myself against girls... its just those damn rings... hurt. No wonder diamonds are a girl's best friend. Yeah...girls and their verbal and physical abuse against me...It's like being married.. though I don't have the tax benefits that go along with it.

Interesting...

So a good portion of the blogging buddies are getting (at least attempting to get) in shape.

So...I've attempted to half ass follow suit by running. We kicked off this pathetic party running earlier (I blogged about it) this month.

It was harsh.

Then I ran some the following week.
Then the next week I got lazy... I blame .... the Pope. I cant run with the Pope in America..

So this week the home teacher pushed me... I pushed back.

He said he'd call last night... I was worried... last night was the Sharks game... He called twice during the 3rd period... no way in hell i was running during that. I probably should have called back after it was over... but I didn't want to bug him.

So I texted today... (He's on Verizon Jessica...see... I have lots of friends on Verizon).

Tangent: as I was writing this... Jessica was asking me questions from the Utah Life and Health Insurance prep exam... I was rocking it.

I said 9-ish its on.

9... stretched out and ready to go...
9:10... standing outside getting cold...
9:12 come inside and call...he said he just got home and would be here in a few.
9:15 stretched out again...
9:20... cold again
9:35 its on... run a quick 2.3 miles
9:55. I'm home.

strange I felt great... like I could run another 2.3 miles... ok maybe 1 mile...ok maybe .5
The home teacher was huffing and puffing... so what was the inspiration?!?!?!
maybe?!?
1) running with someone?
2) moving boxes all day?
3) the Sharks winning and making me want to play hockey?
4) Zito's Pizza?
5) the cold?
6) the bloggin buddies physical fitness attempts?
7) the strong thumbs from over texting is progressing throughout my body?
8) stretching out with Coheed and Cambria playing in the background?! (Jaja nothing like spacey sci-fi based progressive rock to get you in a running mood)
9) nicold's two hours of......

Post Earth Day Rants

SECURITY?

So today... I had to unlock a door we had no key for... So with the help of some rope, a headlamp, a ladder...some hook apparatus and a broom handle... I Eagle scouted me a door opener.
Which leads me to wonder... why do you have locks on doors inside commercial buildings?
Seriously... kinda blows the point if you can just move two ceiling tiles and you're in.

FAMILY INVITES?

Yeah... they think they're funny... hm.

HAHAHA...

Men. You deny that you like a girl...banter with her for months...punch her in the arm from time to time as a term of endearment...act like a total bafoon...meanwhile reverting back to 4th grade and claiming your territory with mean gestures.
and on the side practicing writing yours and her name in symbols, hearts, and how you would write it out on the wedding announcements.

I think thats funny... like "laugh out loud at work and showcase you're not REALLY working" funny.

This from a person that didn't go to BYU... I guess all mormons act like dorks in their post-teen years. Not me though. I never did any of that... thats why I laughed....because she obviously doesn't know me at all.

FREE FOOD!!!

We got free food for lunch today because of all the moving (we're moving, taking over the whole floor...)

Zito's Pizza in Orange, CA. Its pretty good stuff. maybe awesome stuff.Kinda like circa 2000-2002 Barry Zito. Poor Barry. Gets like 18 million a year to pitch for the crappy Giants... and can't win a baseball game to save his life (though thats partially his fault... can't even throw a fastball in the high-80s anymore...)

Lastly...

Planet Earth HD-DVD BBC Version...

$27 shipped...

I am tempted to buy this even though I have the stupid US version....
Because David Attenborough is 12311x better than crappy Weaver.

Way to ruin my Planet Earth experience Sigourney.
Of course I could probably just borrow the BBC version off the Internets...

Oh speaking of the Internets... last week's South Park... high-larious!
last week's 30 Rock. Excellent.

30 Rock>Big Bang Theory>How I met Your Mother>> The Office
Planet Earth BBC version> Planet Earth US version

Awkward Silence.

So... I have this co-worker that wants me to "hang-out" with her younger sister.

Round 1
co-worker: are you dating anyone?
me: nope
CW:you should hang out with my sister... she's different.
me: *awkward silence*
CW: she likes dragons and music and stuff.
me: *awkward silence*
CW: well...she's not THAT different. do you want to see a picture?
me: *awkward silence*
CW: yeah I'll bring in a pic.

Round 2 (the following week)
CW: thanks for helping me out.
me: no problem
CW: I'll buy you lunch one of these days.
me: sweet.
CW: then you can meet my sister.
me: *awkward silence*
CW: she doesn't look like me at all
me: *awkward silence*

Round 3 (Today)
other person: he's just never happy
(BECAUSE I'M DOING HER JOB TOO!!!, well part of it.)
CW: I know I even bring him cereal.
me: haha I'm not six-years-old
other person: see you need to bring something that he wants.
CW: I try, I'm trying to hook him up with my sister. They're in the same situation.
me: *awkward silence...*

Interesting...probably not.

So during the mission. I learned to people watch... I guess it beat talking to everyone... haha.

well I was sitting in church and I noticed something. Every other week... it seems like I'm sitting next to a couple that can't take the sacrament...its awkward... holding out that bread tray and then all of a sudden they're like no... so you hold it out for the other person and they're like no... ahhh sinning couples what better thing to do?

there was this guy that gave a talk. he had some epic story telling skills. It was like having President Monson at your sac. meeting. people were chit chatting or texting during the two girls talks before, but during his, everyone stopped and paid attention... that and that with warm fuzzy wuzzy feelings... made for a quick going sac meeting (or maybe it was due to the fact that the talks were finished 15 mins before sac. meeting was suppose to be finished).

I was sitting in priesthood...my home teacher is sitting in front of me. then i get a text from him. "Dude where are you" to which I replied..."behind you."which led a good laugh in priesthood..(ok not really...) he's a good home teacher (or something) makes sure I run and go to church.

Yeah it was kind of a slow week. Sorry... I mean I'm talking about church on here. (In two-plus years... I've never done that before... didn't want to offend all six of my mormon readers.)
I guess in other news, to go along with killing my text plan, I hung out with Nicki... for like 2.5 hours... during this time, I decided that
1-watching The Office without commercials is bearable. with commercials... wow so not interested.
2-her sister's kitchen/living room paint is a bit too dark for my liking.
3-her mother is the only member of her family that is willing (or crazy enough) to strike up a conversation with me. Which is ok, mothers <3 me. (Kevin's introduced herself both times i've seen her...you know to make sure I remembered who she was. Ellie's ended up talking to me on the phone on Ellie's b-day... that was funny) Everyone else...not so much.

Then Jessica was like stalking me or something... they were playing on the beach in front of my house... they have pictures to prove it. I guess I have to be nice to her...who knows what kind of dirt she found on me in front of my house...

yeah... I apologize if you're still reading... this post sucks.

Sigh...

So the A's swept the Royals this weekend! yay.
The Earthquake won their game. yay.
EVEN the GIANTS won their two games this weekend.
the San Jose Earthquake of Houston tied.
The Ducks lost!!! off to the golf courses with you all.

The stupid Sharks lost... grr..it was blacked out. San Jose...Calgary... I don't think I am in their market... well it doesn't matter because they lost.

Dedicated to LE.

A big F you too for your "Why are you not showing any muscles? Do you not have any? :)" comment... haha... j/k Eleanor Rebecca... maybe.

I stopped off at Best Buy on the way home from work. I bought Thrice's CD via the Internet this time. Because when the last album was released, they were completely out of them...

I soon found out that Lars and the Real Girl and Juno were released this week... if you buy them together they knock off $5 from the total price. Thanks to Kevin and his Roger Ebert phase four months ago, I heard of Lars. I figured to add some more Kevin-approved cinema to the DVD chest for $27. Look at me stimulating the American economy.

Went over to the in-store pick-up. Well Best Buy has some sort of policy where if you don't get your Internet purchased item in a minute after giving them the "come pick up your order" e-mail.. They knock $10 off the price.

Hand her the order... then stand around for a little while... then saw her disappear to the CD section. I glanced at my cell phone.

5:06.

5:07

5:08.

Do I have to fight for my free $10?

5:09

Do they even have my CD?

finally she comes back. I get my CD. I get $10 knocked off the price. So I got my CD for like 74 cents.

I pay for my movies. Hand her my credit card. Its a Circuit City credit card. She says. "I don't care much for the store on your credit card"

to which I really wanted to say, "yeah... well both stores really kinda suck"
Really if Fry's Electronics went to Salt Lake. Living in UT wouldn't be sooo bad.

But I just bought a brand new CD for 75 cents. so i let it go with just ragging on Circuit City... "yeah they suck, but its a credit card"

WORKIE WORKIE WORKIE

Oh and my work knows I'm Mormon... really its the first place since Santo Market (back in the 90s!) that knew I was mormon. I'm sure the Utah places of employment assumed it... but I never really flat out told my bosses I'm Mormon.

Yeah my boss had a little hissy fit that I didn't eat lunch with the staff... I figure if I get my facebook conversation in with Reagan during breaks/lunch... I might actually be productive at work.

We ordered in Japanese (I think the days of free food like at the Cancer Center are gone, sigh) So I broke down ordered some food. and ate with them.

So there was a Muslim, a catholic, a jew and a Mormon and a __________(atheist probably?) sitting around. eating so-so Japanese food...

Sounds like the beginning of a bad joke...

The Nurse Practitioner (the unknown religion affiliation person) has a really interesting life. I could probably put two points on a map and she could get from point to point. She's a backpacker/hiker. backpacked like crazy in High School and into college. After school ended up baby-sitting a kid in Sun Valley Idaho for a month. Skied every day while the kid was at school. Then the kid had ski lessons on the weekend so she skied on the weekends too.

Decided she wanted to learn how to sail. Left, took lessons. learned how to sail... then became scuba certified... has repelled in the Subway at Zion National... currently into horseback riding haha. After all that... thinks I'm a little crazy to hike the Grand Canyon in one-day. She has fun stories though. Maybe i'll eat lunch with these people now.

This One is For LeeElle.

"I think you mis labled the title of the post, it doesn't say jessica in it."

Well this one can't be for Jessica... because they're in Anaheim for the week... who knows if they have Internet access... so it would be a worthless dedication and... well LeeElle for some reason thinks I should be social or something and I was a little bit social this weekend.

So I went camping with some Mormons at Joshua Tree National Park.

I learned one thing... to truly appreciate my Havasupai-going associates.

Don't get me wrong... this was an enjoyable trip... but you really learn how awesome your associates are by the types of jokes.

1) Dam jokes vs. "Thats what she said"... Ok I never thought, "thats what she said" was really ever funny... at least dam jokes takes some more creativity than throwing a tag line out there every FIVE MINUTES... This may be due to the fact I don't think The Office is that great of a show.. Office Space> The Office.

2) Oh they didn't make me take pictures for them... but there are no pictures on facebook... so obviously their picture-taking skills suck.

SATURDAY
11 am-get to Lincoln's
12 pm-1 pm- go pick up some peeps. text conversation with Nicki rocks my texts up to 198 of the 500 out-of-network texts I have (billing period ends on the 6th, hahaha whoops thats a health head start)
3 pm(-ish) get to Joshua Tree... and luckily for my finances out of cell phone tower range.

til about 6ish: bouldering... I never was a big fan of bouldering...its like climbing around on a natural jungle gym. (pic stolen off of facebook...)

6-8 pm: short hike to 49 Palm Oasis... its kind of a neat oasis... in the dark. we got there at sunset and looked around for like 20 mins. then hiked out in the dark... missed a switch back and climbed up a hill side for a good little while. whoops.
8-9pm: eating at a pizzeria...yeah they're hard core campers...

apparently someone brought a non-member friend. i didn't know this. we may have taught her false doctrine...

her:is it ok to work on Sundays?
other kid: depends on the job.
me: as long as you pay twice as much tithing... you can do anything you want.
her: how much do you pay?
other kid: 50%... you have to get someone to figure out how much you owe after deductions..its like taxes.
me: yeah... thats actually how polygamy started... for the extra dependents...

Hmmm... with missionary skills like that... that could be why I had the weekly mission president calls...

10 pm: campfire...featuring fart stories and some strange stories. typical mormon campfire banter.

So I walk down to the bathroom. The door was locked and I was like well crap. SO i try and pull the door harder... it comes open and I look up and there is this old pale man standing right in front of me.. I jump back and almost didn't need a bathroom anymore... the light from the headlamp made old wrinkly man look even more pale.

So I go in and do my business... walk out and the guy is just standing in the middle of the street... i walk by him.. he says, "its just me, no reason to get scared..."

then he walks away... i was like...oooooook. walk back to my camp...looking over my shoulder thinking he was going to sneak up and cut my throat.

slept under the stars. It rocked... til about 2 am it got a bit cold.. my sleeping bag says down to 25 degrees... yeah... I guess they expect you to wear long sleeves and long pants because I was a bit nippy...

woke up sunday...packed up ship and took off back to home.

Desert in bloom!!!

Business Idea #423

Daddy Day Care with Jordan.

25

I can take 25... He can take 23... So just to be safe... We'll limit the day care to 40... and charge like 200$ a week a kid for full-time care... x40 kids= 8k a week revenue... then if there is ever some crazy mutiny at daddy day care... we could SO take them.

There WILL not be any blog reader discount.. So don't even ask.

So is This Suppose to be FHE or SOMETHING?!

If you look at Cary Judd's website...

Monday, May 5th 2008
Huntington Beach, CA
LDS Church
8702 Atlanta Avenue
7PM – Free – All Ages
open to the public, being
held at a church, please be
respectful (no booze etc)

Interesting... this is where I go to church. Is the LDS church in southern CA trying to be more hip to the indy music college crowd?!

On Isaac Hayden's website it said he was doing a private party that night... they're on tour together. So its going to be like an actual show in the cultural center?!? I'm curious.

For Jessica #3

Sister Busted By Brother - Watch more free videos

ahh kids these days...

#2 For Jessica...

So I was talking to David a little while ago about street view on Google Maps. He was concerned about privacy... I wasn't so much. I mean its the same thing anyone can see walking down the street... I've used it to get an idea of where I was going downtown. I thought it was handy.

(So if you google funny google street view pictures... there are some mildly entertaing photos.)

I knew about google's street view for a while, I've since talked to a couple friends and they didn't know what I was talking about. People don't know about Y Sparkle... or Google Street View... what other little golden tidbits are you people missing out on?

So half of my provo apts are on there, my vegas apt complex is on there. Huntington Beach house is on there. strangly enough...my family house isn't.

So I used to live where the yellow arrow is pointing... it was fun. $225 paid for my rent for the whole spring/summer...ahh simpler days. The utilities ended up costing us more...

the red arrow points to married housing... yeah... single and marrieds living in the same building didn't work so well... poor fornication station lost their BYU approval.

That was almost 4 years ago! wow. I was thinner then... now there is more chub... more chub to luv. There was more drama then too... girls... they're crazy i tell you.

Dedicated to Jessica

who sits in Utah and said..."You haven't posted in a few days, where are you?"

So...

Last night Jessie and went to the asian part of Costa Mexico and went to Anjin. Which is a yakiniku place.

I was pretty excited about this...because I haven't done yakiniku since leaving Japan and I've been craving it.

For Yakiniku you cook your own food. It's pretty much like fondue... except with a gas grill and meat in front of you.

It is pretty much everything that Matt would hate. Because you could easily pay 1/2 as much by just going to a japanese grocery store. buying your meat cut up and a bottle of sauce and its the same thing...

I liked it though. while costing you an arm and half a leg. It's still a fun experience. I mean serious... a bowl of rice. $1.50. you want more rice. thats another $1.50. I paid $6 for cooked rice... which would buy me a 20 lb bag of their cheap rice I could easily cook myself.

It's funny... while waiting for her to get off work. I wandered around South Coast for a little while... yay consumerism.

Kaaku At For OC Kids

So the state froze some money...budget restraints... I soon found myself out of the cancer center and at For OC Kids.

1- IT has windows!!! no more hiding in the dark recesses of the Cancer Center... natural light is our friend.
2- I don't have to pay for parking.
3- I'm still a UCI employee so I don't pay social security...
4- the carpet is clean... freaking ZeroRez a year later and dirty carpet still bugs me.
5- They bought me Juan Pollo for lunch because I was leaving on Friday... awww.

Sad
1- I have to drive like .25 mile farther.
2-I'm right next to Angel "Funco-land for Rats" Stadium... so during games... traffic will really suck.

It is kind of interesting, they deal with Pediatrics Neurology...So I watched like three hours of clinical sessions with patients from the other side of the mirror.

and I got third in my espn bracket competition group... stupid Memphis...
and my average bracket score went down to 887.5 from last year's 1044... sad. I don't want to talk about the facebook group.

Haircuts, Kaaku and 2008 Just Don't Mix

So last time... the person thought I was in high school...

This time... well shouldn't people that earn tips be...well nice?!?!?!

her: You REALLY should get your hair cut more than every 2.5 months...
me: well if it didn't grow like a week and i didn't have to pay an arm and a leg to let some hack cut it....this is nothing... I've gone four months before... once in 2001 once in 2004.

later on

her: this stuff works wonders... ESPECIALLY on asian hair (it's ok she was asian too...albeit the crappier non-japanese variety).
me: yeah right... nothing short of super glow will fix this

I mean seriously if i wanted to be talked down to and told what I should do... I'd go visit LeeElle... at least then the odds are pretty good I'd get a free meal out of it... geez.

Which brings up a point... how much do you tip? I mean I've always started at a dollar... I figure if they don't cut something off that belongs to me that can't grow back... They've earned a dollar. If they're fun and entertain me...well I'll tip accordingly... $2. At least the guys that have cut my hair in the past have been entertaining... and one chick, other than that...they've been all kinda blah.

Indian Juan and the Search for Blog Comments

So it turns out... I've gotten a lot more comments recently.

I just happened to get the 250th comment on this blog. it belongs to Nicki... with her profound words of..."Mine either."

on the March 26th post of "Who Says You Don't Learn Something New EVERY DAY..."

this was in regards to some people expressing disdain that I didn't attend their wedding reception.

Any hoooo.

Every so often. I might have a conversation with a bloggin buddy about comments.
Is there correlation between comments and gas prices? who knows. I guess we'll see as gas prices shoot up...if my comments continue to shoot up.

These are the top 10 comment posters in the little over two years of kaakun.blogspot.com
Reagan with 38, me, nicki, Kevin, Jordan, LeeElle, Larrie, Rebecca, Jessica and Stacey with 12.

Thanks peeps.

So Nicki goes down in my blog history as the 250th comment...with LeeElle as the 100th... Rebecca as the first annual bloggin buddy of the year.

EDIT: since we all love competing for my Internet affection... this is the numbers. without the new comments...
Reagan 38
me 27
Nicki 27
Kevin 26
Jordan 23
LeeElle 23
Larrie 18
Rebecca 16
Jessica 13
Stacey 12

6 people with 1.

WTF?

-So we're sitting next to five african americans (three on one side, two on the other) @ the Sharks game... probably the only five african americans in the arena (besides Mike Grier). Hahah I wanted to ask if they got free tickets and saw the purple and automatically thought Lakers tickets...

-@ the start of the game, Jess: didn't you tell me they scored 30 seconds into the Ducks game?
Me: yeah
Jess: I hope that doesn't happen tonight.
all the Kings fans: booooooooooooooo!
Me: hahahah well to be fair that was like 38 seconds.

-so three of the four Kings games... I've been Jumbo-troned... WTF Josh?!?! Look at the screen. 5 secs of happy happy kids...5 secs of happy kids... 5 secs of happy kids... 15 secs of us. um... yeah.

-Guy behind us: HEY you're on the screen... go crazy!.
us: um, no.

-Yeah.. the Sharks lost.. but they haven't lost in regulation since Feb 20th... so i guess it was bound to happen sooner or later.. I rather it happen in a pointless regular season game than the playoffs.

-The Earthquakes lost to the Galaxy... though thats not really a WTF moment as more of a duh moment.

-this lady got hit with a puck...it was really a one in a million shot. it flew along the bench then missed the "protecting fans" little piece of glass and hit her in the shoulder. she didn't die or get hospitalized or get knocked out of her seat...so I can say this without feeling bad, "pay attention you silly blonde!!!"

yeah... we lost which kinda kills the greatness of the ex-wifey's gift... but I guess its nice to throw them a useless bone. how will I keep her interested in going to LA Kings games if we always see them lose to the Sharks?

Yeah... I'm looking like a dork... I really can't figure out how to push a button and smile even slightly normal...(or have a casual conversation without being sarcastic...) plus the 2nd best team in the NHL just lost to the worse team in the NHL... so I'm a little distraught. But heck if Jessica and Nicki can post slightly awkward self portraits and be proud of it. well... I can sorta.. maybe do the same. (That should guarantee one angry comment from Jessica and one short phrase comment from Nicki).

lastly... we grabbed some In-N-Out... the onions were crazy strong. I've brushed, flossed and mouth washed... now instead of smelling like onions... I'm more minty onion.

General Confernce.

So I have some fond memories of the Annual General Conference Sessions over the past couple years(none really of the semi-Annuals...probably b/c thats usually been when the A's lost the chance at making the playoffs...usually by losing to the Angels...in Oakland... boo.) the memories really aren't church related... but they're swell. kinda...sorta...maybe not...

2003... D squared visits... has an encounter with our bath mat and well lost. has a couple interesting conversations with Andy. I also saw like four shows this week... so there was a lot of time spent in Salt Lake City.

2005... Greg and I go to Wal-Mart. buy a BBQ and have a weekend of grilled meals. salmon, steak and shrimp, hamburgers, hot dogs, corn on the cob... mmmm best GC weekend ever food-wise.

2007... sitting at Ruby's with LeeElle's family... listening to Collin tell his parents explicit details of the last South Park episode he saw (S11E02- Cartman Sucks)... I then lost to a bunch of Ginger kids at Ticket to Ride...

Kaaku and Running...

So I have a strange thing with running... I do it once... and I feel as if I have to reward myself... I ran down (in my car) to Guitar Center and bought a 3-pack of strings, because for a month or so... Black 40 looked like this...

Yeah no little e... its funny how some things don't sound right when playing a 5-stringed guitar. (Once or twice I got another guitar out of the closet... but really when you know one chord progression...thats really just kind of a pain in the butt.)

which made it about as useful as this...

But now... she looks like this.

Looks 10x better than Nicold's re-stringing job... Kaaku FTW!!!!
though Nicold has 10x the guitar skillz... so Kaaku FTL...

Kaaku Gets April Fooled A Little Late

So I got home taught last night. It was interesting. I brought up the event i so affectionately named, Irene's death march. and the fact that I want to lose some baby fat so I look good while coyotes eat my flesh off my body.

Next thing I know I'm running at 6:30 in the morning...

yeah, 1.9 miles in about 20-25 minutes... So after high tailing it at that break neck speed... My heart is going into over drive. Lungs are struggling to pump this heavy ocean air.

Yeah... he brought a friend... it was like a home teaching orgy.
The lesson, I'm out of shape.
