The Last Kiss
So it seems like everytime I pick up three previously viewed DVDs for $25 from Hollywood Video or Blockbuster, I only want two movies. So I go out on a ledge and grab one more to make it to the required three DVDs. The last time I picked up some DVDs was in Jan. so I grabbed The Last Kiss.
Zach Braff does ok as an actor and the cover said it was written by the writer of 'Million Dollar Baby' and co-wrote 'Crash'.
It's suppose to be an American re-make on some Italian flick. The way it was shot was kinda neat, there was some artsy fartsy camera work. But overall I wasn't too impressed.
I kept thinking it was a stab at making another 'Garden State'. With the whole coming of age, Zach Braff grows up right in front of your eyes, awww, thing.
Sure the sleeping around and everyone's failing relationships got old and it sure seemed a bit longer than an hour and 40 minutes. Then there wasn't too much character development so when the plot twists and turns, I didn't really care.
So don't go out of your way to see the movie. If it came between sitting at home doing nothing or watching this movie. It would be slightly better than looking at a blank wall, unless you live in filth and you can watch cockroaches duke it out on your wall for territorial supremacy.
----------------------------------
The politicians don't just want your money. They want your soul. They want you to be worn down by taxes until you are dependent and helpless. When you subsidize poverty and failure, you get more of both.
-James Dale Davidson, National Taxpayers Union
The income tax has made more liars out of the American people than golf has.
-Will Rogers (1879 - 1935), Illiterate Digest (1924), "Helping the Girls with their Income Taxes"

Shavers
So in between my dad's picking up "Free after mail in rebate" razors and my "Free sample" Internet razors. I haven't paid for cartridges for the past five years. Which works out, since I'm Asian and can only produce about twelve hair follicles on my face below my eyebrows.
I've finally moved up the razor evolutionary chart from the "FOUR BLADES for precise shaving!!!" up to the "Four blades that vibrate for even more precise shaving!!!"
I'm not all that impressed which Schick's model, but I think there is a Gillette model in the drawer too. So we'll see how that pans out when his time arrives.
Of course maybe if I had more than twelve hair follicles that could grow hair on my face, maybe I would be impressed...

The Love Plant is DEAD!!!!
LeeElle's post
I'm just in shock. All those years of being ignored and it flourished.
The Sharks clinched a playoff spot tonight!!! yay.
Joe Kennedy finally pitched a game where he didn't completely ridiculously suck. He lowered his ERA from 20.48 to 14.11.
The BYU game was snowed out.
EDIT: Apparently, the love plant is just on hard times. I guess showing it a little bit of attention and it freaked out and started shedding leaves... and color. Thats good.

Kaakun: (gives her a funny look) um...so that means if I want to show up five minutes after the movie is over I'm screwed.
Other person picking up their awesome tickets and stuff: hahahahaha
Receptionist: I mean that as long as the movie is at the theater you can see it...
Kaakun: ohhhhhhhh.

Ten Ways Being a Geek Makes You More Attractive Article
Posted 7 minutes ago in Miscellaneous by Boyd
So as I read over this, I kinda think that its pretty much the same thing over and over.
You read a lot so you can learn a lot.
I liked #7... Thats the only time Ellie called (Ok, thats a lie...kinda, she called for other things, like when she wanted to go somewhere and didn't want to go by herself E.G. a women's basketball game apparently we ended up on the big screen b/c how many minorities do you see in Provo, much less at a women's basketball game...or when we shared a free Blockbuster.com membership I saw her like every day for a month), when she needed techy help. I was even helping her mother's computer problems at one point.
#9 may be true...But how many times are you going to use pwned, lol or wtf away from a computer.

Being a geek in 2007 is nothing to be ashamed of, the stereotype that once existed is long gone and there are several characteristics of geek culture that could almost be considered chic. Consumating, Threadless, or even Apple are pretty good testaments to this fact.
The picture I'm about to paint is of the ideal, I'm not implying that every perl programmer or 15 year kid who plays WoW all day possesses all these qualities.
1. You're probably very smart.
2. It's hip to be geek. Everyone is familiar with the stereotype of thick glasses, a pocket protector, an obsession with star trek, and social skills akin to a sack of potatoes. Times have changed: geeks are often fashionable, hip individuals who are very aligned with the trends of their own generation
3. You geek out on more than just your computer. Ever seen the movie collection of a film geek? Ever had an automotive geek work on your car? Ever seen the body of a fitness geek? The tenacity of someone like us, when applied to hobbies outside computers and the like, can yield impressive results.
4. Geek humor is the best humor. This is perhaps a biased opinion, but I've never laughed as hard as I have while reading some of the random, funny things that came out of geek culture.
5. You listen to good music. Geeks have access to tools that allow us to hear music that extends well beyond top 40 radio. Want the entire discography of Aphex Twin by tomorrow afternoon? Ask a geek. Not only do they listen to good music, they can find just about anything you're looking for in a heartbeat.
6. You make good money. If there's one stereotype about geeks that usually rings true, it's that they rarely have trouble earning a decent income.
7. You fix stuff. Everyone loves a handyman, especially one that can fix one of the most frustrating devices ever conceived: a personal computer.
8. You've got your own stuff going on. You'll never meet a geek who runs out of things to do, they've got lots of hobbies and interests and are more than happy to dive head first into one of those when they've got some spare time. In other words: they won't rely on you to give them a life.
9. You're very articulate. Compulsively reading a few hundred RSS feeds a day yields a vocabulary that could put most college English majors to shame.
10. You're passionate. When a geek becomes interested in something, they tend to immerse themselves in it entirely. They'll strip a new gadget down to nuts and bolts and re-build it with an xhtml compliant grappling gun. This intense passion can extend to many areas of a geek's life, not just computers and hobbies.
So as I read over this, I kinda think that its pretty much the same thing over and over.
You read a lot so you can learn a lot.

A Sheep Human Hybrid... Males in Wyoming Rejoice!!!/March Madness...
WTF? I like how the thing with "Madness" takes back seat in that title.
Now Scientists Create a Sheep That's 15% HumanArticle
I guess it makes sense, instead of going out and buying a wool sweater... You could just grow it...I...guess...
So these are the possibilities of winners in my madness group. Rebecca has the inside leg to finish with a grand total of 1410, with Florida defeating Ohio State. If that happens, the runners up are;Lew1 1300 and Derek 1210. Boo.
If Ohio State beats Florida, I win with 1290, come in 2nd with 1280, 3rd with 1260 tied with Edwards1. Obviously I put all my eggs in one basket.
If UCLA beats Ohio State it's a three-way tie
Greg 1130
David 1130
Rebecca 1130.
If Ohio State beats UCLA
me 1170
me 1160
me 1140 tied with Edwards.
If Georgetown beats Florida
Bridget wins with 1300
me at 1240
Rebecca at 1130

Greg 1130
David 1130

Bridget 1180

Of course I could be way off with the points, since I just kinda threw this together. oh well. Go Ohio State!

Kaakun Is A Winner
So on Feb 17th of this year, I set out to win something from the radio.
I won something this morning...
Movie tickets and something else which i'm not quite sure what its going to be...
I'll report on that later.
I really don't want the movie tickets. The movie looks like it would take the award for "the crappiest crap crap of crap movie I've ever seen" (and I've seen Kazaam...Who dare to wake me? Ain't gonna mame this a mystery. Don't wanna do time on your wishes three. Watch it, boy! You don't want to dis me! Or I'll dish out my misery. Now. who's that sorry wanna-be that disturbed my z's? If you wanna be number one, I'm sorry boy, that's been done! But if you got the itches for a sack of riches don't matter how avaricious, I'm the man that can grant your wishes! Hey, don't turn your butt on me! I'm the man of the ages, straight out of the pages. Hang on! I'm contagious, outrageous, spontaneous! You can't contain this. I am KAZAAM!...um... yeah... Shaq, great job totally believable as a genie.) An independent flick call, 'The Guys and Girls Guide to Getting Down'.
yeah... hopefully I can get like free CDs or something useful.

30 Rock and The Miss USA um... Scholarship Program
Yay for NBC. Yay for GE, they paid for my college education. Sort of, I guess my dad paid for my college education. But GE paid him... and people that bought all of GE's stuff and commercials on NBC paid GE. So thank you NBC and GE consumers for my education.
I guess we know how Tina Fey is voting.
30 Rock is a good show. I'm glad I listened to Jordan and gave it a spin. Its a creative new spin on a sit com. Kinda making fun of the TV world, but being the TV world. well done.

So the Miss USA scholarship program is on. It's suppose to be live, but they already have the top 5 on their website. So, yeah.
We should do brackets for the Miss USA Scholarship Program. I am about as knowledgeable about that as college basketball.
Miss Idaho is a BYU-I student hahahahahaha. She can't even wear shorts in the summer, yet she's in a two-piece for the "Scholarship Program." Well she never got that far... but there's photos of her showing off the goods on the Miss USA website.
Miss Utah had a nice stomach. You could probably bounce a quarter off it. That works wonders in getting a scholarship. I think they should use that for a qualification for financial aid at schools now. Maybe America wouldn't be so obese then. That and how well you can flaunt around in a bikini and heels. Nothing like glamor shots and heels and a bikini to get you that scholarship to _______ Community College.
The top 5 and their respected universities or colleges...(number of students, avg SAT and/or ACT score, all numbers are from the Princeton Review)
Miss CA- Chaffey Community College (15,497, Not reported)
Miss RI- Rhode Island College (6,531, 974)
Miss NV- UNLV (20,607, SAT 1020, ACT 21)
Miss TN-Belmont (3,734, ACT 26)
Miss KS- University of Kansas (20,979, ACT 25)
I think Miss Kansas would probably look the best without all the makeup... but I guess thats not how they vote.
They should give out more awards, besides Miss Photogenic and Miss Congeniality.
Like Best Cameltoe or Miss "Can chew gum and walk in heels at the same time" or Best Boob Job.
They already have the press release for who won... all these lies of being "Live". They're going to select the top 5 after the commercial break...live... Lies.
Congrats Miss TN (born in Panama), Belmont didn't get out of the first round of March Madness but at least they have Miss USA. Miss RI got 2nd, thats probably the highest RI has ever done competing in anything with the rest of the Union.
Miss TN will probably do the state proud just as Miss Kentucky/Miss USA 2006 with all her naughty photos of kissing other girlies.
I guess with a scholarship, they don't have to worry about modeling for a year and can find new extracurricular activities.

Playoff droughts
So the Sharks are closing in on clinching another playoff spot. Some teams on the other hand, have sucked for a while. These are the longest playoff droughts in the four major sports.
NBA-The Golden State Warriors haven't played a post season game in 12 seasons.
NFL-The Arizona Cardinals haven't played a post season game in 8 seasons.
NHL-The Atlanta Thrashers haven't played a post season game in their first 6 seasons (But are about to change that this year, once this season is over, baring some miracle, the Columbus Blue Jackets and Florida Panthers will be the longest with 6 seasons of no playoffs.
Baseball is the cream of the crop for not playing in the post season with six teams not playing baseball in October longer than the Warriors suckyness.
Washington Nationals-25 seasons
Milwaukee Brewers-24 seasons
Kansas City Royals-21 seasons
Pittsburgh Pirates- 14 seasons
Philadelphia Phillies- 13 seasons
Toronto Blue Jays-13 seasons
Grant it baseball is the hardest to qualify for the post-season, Only 8 of 30 teams play in the post-season.
The NBA and NHL both let 16 of their 30 teams. The NFL lets 12 of 32.
I'm not doing so hot in my March Madness group I'm in. I'm 6th of the 11 people that are in the group. There are 23 brackets. 6 are banking on Ohio State winning it all. 3 for UCLA, 3 for Georgetown, 2 for UNC, 2 for Kansas. 7 picked teams that are out of it.

Great Scott!
Spring Training/Spring Relationships

So last week I was sitting on some grass under a tree, trying to stay out of the desert sun and was watching some of the minor leaguers hit. I was also trying to listen to the conversation going on behind me. The conversation varied, there was mention that most of the guys on this field were going to AA Midland, that the guy leaving the batting box was a toolsy player that they were high on, feelings about how spring training has been going, etc.
But this is what stuck out the most to me.
Yeah this is the part of spring training I hate. As people get cut and sent back here, I have to deal with all these bruised egos, after about a week or so, they're ok. But a lot of them think they belong...
It turns out the guy was talking to Lew Wolff, the team owner.
Last night I watched 'A Player To Be Named Later,' a documentary on AAA players in Indianapolis, pursing their dreams and the effects of that dream on their families.
The reason I bought the DVD was because one of the players followed was Marco Scutaro (who is the only player mentioned in the DVD that has gone on to spend most of the time on a Major League roster).
It was interesting to see how players in the late 20s or early 30s started to worry about how they might not make it to their dream.
Some comparisons.
Baseball players are signed as young as 16-years-old. The same time LDS folk can start dating.
Some have natural talents and get through the minors rather easy.
Some less talented people work hard at their skills and that gets them to the majors at a young age.
Some rely on natural talent and then hit a road block and get frustrated.
There are people that have the skills to be in the Bigs or dating/married and when they get sent back to the minors, or booted from a relationship, they're frustrated and angry. It takes some time and then they get back to work.
Sometimes players over think things and then they get in trouble and fail because they are trying too hard, but when they just relax and be themselves they start succeeding again.
Some people have the skills to be up there but aren't asked up, eg Marco Scutaro wasn't invited up to the big leagues in the documentary for September call-ups, despite being called the team MVP.
Man baseball sure works well into an analogy of dating...i compared girls to catchers in this post. http://kaakun.blogspot.com/2007/01/touring.html
Especially since a possible trip to Japan, later on in life, would involve a wife possibly squatting to do a #2...
Plus I spent most of my time in Timp Gateway joking around with Greg about it.

It was nice to see David and Kevin, but I've seen them before. I've never seen spring training before.

Apparently People Are Obssessed with Finding Their Google Twin.
I sadly don't have a Google twin.
Google twin — a strange obsession
It had a link to http://www.intelius.com. Which is some public record search. That also only one person with my name. I'm special.

Belated Happy Birthday
So 1 year and 1 week ago, http://www.Kaakun.com was started. The blog was suppose to be in a frame of the new and exciting website. Well I never did too much with the website and just did posts on the blog.
So this is half of what was originally envisioned 53 weeks ago.
It's been an interesting ride.
The whole traveling across the west and all the posting.

I didn't take the picture.
I don't understand how her 15 minutes of fame aren't up yet.
She's cute but there are more attractive, useless celebs.
Oh well I guess Danica McKellar is still a celebrity. But she was in The Wonder Years for five years and did a paper proving a mathematical theorem. Kristin two years on a reality TV show and yeah. eh.
A Break From Hating Arizona

So I was working today and glanced at the guy's bookshelf. He had hundreds of books on religion. One was called 'One Nation Under Gods: A History of the Mormon Church'.
When I was done working he said I could have a book. Now this was kind of a strange offer. No one has offered me a book before after finishing up work. So I start looking at all the different versions of the Bible he had then eventually pulled the One Nations Under Gods book off the shelf and started flipping through the pages.
I read the foreword by a great-great-great grand daughter of Brigham Young. I then skimmed pages for about 45-minutes. Just because anyone could write and get a book published, doesn't make the book 100% accurate. While I was in Arizona, Kevin mentioned that while doing peer reviews of fellow ASU students they'd cite sources that weren't exactly credible sources, such as wikipedia.org. This is what I felt some of the sources cited in the book were like, they were trying to come off as presented an un-biased opinion but heavily leaned one way. Overall my feelings to the book was that I am obviously not a spiritual giant, there have only a few times void of the spirit and felt quite empty. This was one of those times.
For a church that has had millions of members over the past almost 200+ years. There are going to be skeletons in the church's history. Those members are humans and humans do make mistakes. It doesn't make the religion any less true.
After perusing the book, I talked to the guy about religion for about 30 minutes afterwards. He didn't hate any one religion and said he pretty much came to the conclusion that religion usually made people better in general and there isn't a need to undercut other religions.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Obviously the author isn't too keen on the LDS Church. The Editorial Review on Amazon.com says he is "A conservative Christian writer and director of the Religious Information Center in Southern California." I'm sure whatever church he affiliates himself with is void of any wrong doings, contradictions and is 110% true and accurate. There is some SLIGHT sarcasm in that statement.

I'm Back
So I'm back from AZ.
Friday
Left at 630, stopped to take a picture of Lake Mead.
Got to Scottsdale at 1115ish and watched some of the A's minor leaguers hit. It's funny they all piled into Ecoline vans to go to their AA/AAA minor league game. Then I went to David's house and it was just wandering the city from there. I saw the Arizona Falls, I was expecting something more artsy than just a standard canal water fall. David's mom then cooked up some dinner.
We went to the Botanical Garden. Artists go and paint stuff. That picture on the side was painted and so I walked in the sculpture and took the same picture. They had a butterfly exhibit that you could walk in. That was neat. Watching all the butterflys fly around you.
The gardens were mainly cactus though. I wandered the small free cactus garden in Vegas with Irene last week. Then saw this big $10 cactus garden with David and his mom, I'm cactused out.
We ate lunch at Oregenos, its a tasty place. There was a waitress that looked like LeeElle with about 15 more pounds. She looked more related to her than any of her sisters do. Then we went to the Japanese Friendship Garden. That was neat. It reminded me of home and the mission.
Then we took David's mom to the airport and went and hanged out with Kevin and Sarah. We ate In-N-Out and watched Titanic. They never saw the excellent fake trailer for Titanic 2: Two the Surface. So we watched that too. It was nice to see them, I haven't seen them for a good long while.
Saturday: We saw a split-squad game between the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in Garden Grove play the future San Jose A's of Fremont in Fremont. The A's did alright, we left after 8 innings and watched Huston Street warm up (pictured) before taking off. I guess they ended up winning, crazy AA/AAA bats warmed up at the end.
Boxscore
Then I drove back to Vegas. The only nice thing about the desert is the sunsets and sunrises. But those are pretty swell anywhere. I know you all missed me. This was the first time I've been to Phoenix and see Hoover Dam. It will probably be the last. Phoenix is just to hot for me. Kevin said he thinks, "the metropolitan has California envy." All I could think of was the 'Arrested Development' quote, "I'd rather be dead in California than alive in Arizona" while I was there.

Vegas> Phoenix
So I've decided Vegas is better than Phoenix.
-Vegas realized that it sucks in the desert, thats why they have casinos make believing they are elsewhere.
-Vegas is closer to San Jo than Phoenix.
-Vegas has accepted that their drivers suck and don't resort to road rage.
-NO state income tax.
-Tourist stuff in Vegas as opposed to nothing touristy in Phoenix, besides sports.

Off To Arizona

So I'm off to Arizona tomorrow.
Its going to be hot. high 80s, low 90s for highs. Ick.
Lows in the low 60s. So it cools off a little bit more than here. hooray.
The Sharks beat the Coyotes. Take that Phoenix.
VCU kinda put an early wrench in the March Madness bracket. I expected Butler for some reason to choke (I don't really follow basketball, so all of my bracket is just guessing).
An early Happy St. Patty's Day to all.

Pooped dot com

So I've been taking some crazy long naps this week. I guess the excitment from the IL tour wore me out. Or I'm just too old to play this daylight savings time game anymore.
So yeah the crazy high intake of Vitamin B made it possible to avoid napping monday, but other than that, the 3-hour nap has been a daily ritual.
Irene and Larrie were part of my first school year of actually doing fun stuff with people I didn't know before college. Fall semester of 99 and winter of 01 was just going to Salt Lake to shows with San Jo peeps or countless hours of DVD watching (there isn't much to Provo).
I like to re-hash old memories. If you don't like it, no one is making you read. Scroll down or find another less cool blog to read.
Some memories (and a couple thoughts) I've had about the 02-03 school year.
-Being the apt whore of Arcadia 1 (according to Kara I took out 4 of the 5 on a date), then moonlighting as the apartment boyfriend of Arcadia 3 (I got that title because I was freaking awesome and didn't try and kiss rape Rachel... that was a sad story, I've come to realize I've met a lot of Rachels and Davids in my lifetime).
-All those times freezing my butt off at Seven Peaks watching Larrie's indoor soccer games, was worth when I saw someone shoot the ball and it bounced off both goal posts before it bounced out (with vigor).
-Sitting in Cent 2 apt #15 with John and Camille. Someone decided to go putt putt. I thought I was 3rd wheeling it, so I was hesitant. Camille decided to make it better and got Jacob and Terri. So I was now 5th wheeling it. I ran over to Arcadia and Irene was sitting there studying.
K: Is anyone else home?
I:nope.
K: Come play putt putt.
I: I have to study.
K: It's Friday night.
I: I have to study and I suck at putt putt.
K: Come play putt putt.
Once again showing my smooth talking with the ladies. She comes. I got 2nd place. Irene got 1st (I guess everyone else was too busy making out or something to care). She beat me by 10 strokes. I paid for Irene to kick my trash. Don't play putt putt or Ticket to Ride with Irene.
-The TV smashing event of April 03 and the run-in with both BYU and Provo Police.
-Kyle (kara's old boyfriend) destroying the awesome memory of the TV smashing event by recording over the tape.
-I wonder if I was the tallest person to take Kara out on a date since '03...hahaha an asian being the tallest.
-I wonder if I gave Kara yellow fever because I was totally awesome. She married a half Korean. hahaha. Koreans.
-David coming out from San Jo to brighten our day. He showers, realized he doesn't have a towel and decides to use the janky old mat in the bathroom (from the bathroom for 4 ridiculously hairy guys, then there was John and I. Who you could actually see skin if we were topless). Well after "toweling off" there was a scream from the bathroom. David realized he finished the shower with more body hair than he started with.
-Spiderman photos.
-Kara and her almost daily, "Kyle and I had a fight because of you..." Kyle was jealous of my awesomeness. Kyle was also jealous of the fact that a yellow person was like 3 inches taller than him.
-Video taping Larrie, Kara and Emily's ice skating final. Toe pick.
-My Kirkart displayed in Cent 2. Apt 15. Yay for creativity and boredom. and having a whole bunch of 3x5 cards and paper on hand.
-Kara in Cent 2, apt 5 was ridiculously hot.
- John hated Jacob, Kim hated John, but everyone loved me.
-Case in point, I was Nathan's favorite roommate.
-Going to Target to read exciting greeting cards with Kim.
-Countless 5 hour conversations on messanger with Camille.
-One morning Nathan says. "I was really tired last night. I came out to get a drink of water and I thought I saw you guys sitting upside down on the couch."
Us: "we were."
Nathan: "nevermind then"
-Playing a wrestling game I bought off Ebay. Man, fun times had by all.
-Playing Tony Hawk with John.
Camille: "Did you guys dress up like your characters on the game?"
Us: "So?"
-IHOP and Wendy's midnight runs.
-Larrie breaking Brandon's mini van driver's side window at a midnight Wendy's run because he tried to lock her out.
-Made a sofa fort.
-Taking Irene's sister out for a night on the town. I mentioned this earlier in the year Link
Ok so it really seems like life at BYU is middle school all over again. But its not because we could drive and stay up past 11. Other than that it pretty much is.
It's sad because I've lost touch with most of those people I met from that school year, except for Irene, Kim, Larrie, Rachel. Oh well. what can you do? Blog about it .

The IL Vegas Tour, 160 miles around "The Meadows"
So the IL Vegas tour started late Thursday night with a trip to pick-up Irene.
Friday's events took Irene and I to a chocolate factory tour which was really really small. As you can see there are no Oompa Loompas... If you look in the earlier post, they also have other jobs, like serving up shots. The chocolate factory was a disappointment, the neighboring cactus garden was interesting.
After Larrie rolled into town, we grabbed some grub and called it a day.
Saturday we ate a pot of bread at Jamms. Tasty place it is. Then we went off to The Strip. Larrie was kind enough to crouch down a little in the picture to make me look taller. I also didn't know the water show still went on during the day.
Then we watched BYU lose to UNLV at a BBQ that had a tad bit of a hostile environment. I guess by hostile it was us trying to keep our cool and not point out racial jokes aren't funny if you're not a minority... but we're like totally awesome and realized that people all can't be funny, so we let the comments slide.
After the less than stellar BBQ. We went to Shark Reef. I was able to smooth-talk us some local's discounts.
Kaakun: If I have a Clark County library card is that enough proof that I live in Vegas?
Lady: (shoots me a funny look) I guess. Whats your zip code?
Yeah I'm smooth. Look at the sweet sea cucumber in that picture haha.
The day ended up at The Cheesecake Factory. Yum.
Larrie went home Sunday. Before taking off, I introduced her to how awesome Arrested Development is on DVD.
Then Tuesday Irene and I went to the Vegas wetlands. It was alrighty. We also went to Lake Las Vegas. It was kinda neat. Look at how green that golf course is. Green Fees are $295 USD, I thought it would be more. Its crazy nice.
So Irene and I annuled the marriage mainly because the whole Idaho-California union is strange (despite working for 36+ years for my parents...) and she beat me at Ticket to Ride. This was no barely squeaking out a win...This was a 125-75 smack down from the person who never even heard of the game before Friday. I've never lost that bad... Plus I am about as mature as a five-year-old and no one wants to baby sit a five-year-old.
Larrie was kind enough to sort through the pictures and load up all the nice looking pictures. Link
The bad pictures fell into two categories, a blurry mess or "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas pleading the 5th" kinda category.

Vitamin B

So I drank 650% of my daily intake of Vitamin B today.
I downed a Vitamin Water Revive that a woman gave me. It tasted like watered down gatorade.
Then for lunch I downed a Bolthouse Farms Blue Goodness, dang Bolthouse Farms has tasty drinks.

Dreams #17
So its been kinda of a busy weekend, so this one didn't get put up right away.
In the dream Ellie hated me. It was a bitter angry hatred. One that the person is tells you like, "oh we're fine". Then walks away and tells a random person, "I hate that douche" as she points and whispers outloud.
It was a bit disappointing in the dream, but it was a good run, being friends with a mormon for a year and half is about a year longer than normal for me.
The weekday talk show of Girl Talk with Ellie was a highlight of the 05-06 season and almost picked up a Local Emmy for the Rocky Mountain Region. We were hosed I tell you, hosed. Screw you Fox 13 and 'Good Day Utah'.
And really for a girl, she had a whole lot of personality and was actually funny.
Luckily it was all a dream and the bitter hatred isn't real. I think... oh well according to the '2007 Mormon Marriage Guide' I think you're suppose to drop all friendships, both meaningful and trivial....I'm not 100% sure since I haven't been reading it since I'm kinda busy.

I've also finally changed the time zone settings and my location on the blog. So now it's slightly more accurate. All it took was six months...

So um #346332353 give or take
So Irene and Larrie came down to visit me. So in gratitude I provide shelter and transportation.
The other night we started off the little shinnanagans with a trip to Mimi's.
It was rather normal, besides the waitress was like, "has anyone on ever told you that you look like Mandy Moore?"
Irene replies, "nope"
Today, we end up at Sephoria (sp?) and they're doing their thing and I try to look as manly as possible and look for and smell the manly colognes, you know the one's that smell masculine and strong and not girlie and fruity.
Well after about three or so, you start to feel like everything smells the same and it starts to make you sick.
So I walked away and noticed they were doing some skin purifying demo.
I watched and wanted to ask stupid questions like, "what if an asian does the mask, do you have ones with more slanty eyes, because that would be a lot of skin that doesn't get covered with the mask".
Well Larrie runs off, and I'm standing there with Irene waiting. This employee walks up and does the whole "BRT" thing with Irene and then walks away and as she passes me, touches my arm and says, "she's a pretty girl".

Well we take off down the strip and pass a bar with a midget standing on the bar, blowing a whistle and pouring shots. For me a midget blowing a whistle is quite entertaining. So I'm drawn like a moth to the flame.
1st shot, alcohol is the devil's drink, devil's i say.
2nd, It's not as bad.
3rd, woot, theres a midget blowing a whistle. Viva Las Vegas.
So we're wandering. End up at the Bellagio. Look the world's largest chocolate fountain. Yum. I want some, I take a picture. I'm so funny. Tipsy on sniffing cologne and downing tequila. 2 Tons of chocolate in the world's largest fountain, the Bellagio can spare a spoonful or two.

Then we take off for Shark Reef. I like the San Jose Sharks. They're not playing such great hockey right now. But San Jose Sharks, Jaws, Shark Week on the Discovery Channel. Sharks are bad ass.

On the way to Shark Reef (still tipsy), we pass by the wedding chapel. The Saphoria lady was like, blah blah blah pretty girl blah. The waitress lady was like, blah blah blah Mandy Moore blah blah, I had a dream about Mandy earlier. I also enjoy Irene's company well enough and I'm not getting any younger. Pretty soon the mop on the top of the head will go grey and I'll forget such exciting activities that were completely normal and ordinary, like the number of times I went to Larrie's house and hung out. If you look at the right side under pointless Kaakun facts my birth tree says I am a faithful and tender partner thats wants to be loved...
To make a short, spontaneous story shorter, I proposed, got married, and lost a lot of money. We were a party of three since Rachel didn't come up from CA. So I had to pitch in and rent another "witness". Luckily I saw how to do all of this on wikihow, How to Elope in Las Vegas
when it was on my google.com/ig home page in the Wikihow to section of the day.
So far the honey moon has consisted of, Shark Reef (The Caribbean, south america all squished into one), smashing gelato into each other's faces, and thats it really. But how much can you afford as a Zero Rez Indoor Environmental Specialist on a spur of the moment thing?
So I need some wedding presents, Target gift cards rock. I want a Dyson and a comfy couch. Oh some decent German cutlery and a Kitchen Aid would be greatly appreciated too.

Blake Crosby

Last year we (Ellie, Greg and I) were sitting at a BYU baseball game. BYU was getting spanked by some school I never heard of (University of Nothern Coloardo, BYU took the first two games then lost the one I decided to go to). All of a sudden Blake Crosby scores to make the score 11-4. Instead of a heart-filled celebration of hey we 're finally scoring against some crappy school, we were watching Blake Crosby getting yelled at by a coach. Then when the Cougars took the field at the top of the next inning. He wasn't out there. Boxscore
The reason this was interesting to me was because Blake Crosby is Bobby Crosby's little brother (who finally learned after literally breaking his back last year, that he doesn't have to swing for the LDS temple on the Oakland hillside on each pitch. article)
Another reason is that usually you're not yelling obscenities at a BYU baseball player after he scores...
So Blake transferred from BYU after his freshman season. Greg found out that he wanted to play shortstop instead of 3B and BYU was going to have none of that. So he went off to CSU-Sacramento.
This is his bio page on the CSU-Sactown athletics' page: Link
Current splits: Link
Best of luck Blake. Communication Studies is a horrible choice for a major. I hope the baseball career pans out for you.
2002 MLB Draft
So I finished 'Moneyball' today. It was interesting, I was curious to see what happened to the 2002 draft picks.

Picthers:
28 Drafted
10 didn't sign
Of the 18 that signed;
3 aren't playing in the minors any more
1 rookie ball
1 A ball
1 A+ ball
5 AA ball
5 AAA
1 MLB
1 was traded in the Mark Redman deal
Papelbon of the Red Sox and Taubenheim of the Blue Jays were two of the people that didn't sign that have played in a Major league baseball game.
Positional Players
24 drafted
7 didn't sign
Of the 17 that signed.
2-aren't playing in the minors anymore
1-rookie ball
2-A ball
2-A+ ball
4-AA ball
4-AAA ball
1-MLB
1 was traded in the Octavio Dotel trade and is playing for the Royals.
One of the players didn't sign in 02, was redrafted by the A's in 03. didn't sign again and was drafted by the Astros in 04 then signed. But he's only playing A ball so it doesn't really matter.
So of the 52 players drafted in 2002 by the A's. Only five have spent significant time in a MLB uniform.
Its amazing to me how baseball is the only sport where a spotlight isn't put on a 1st round pick and they aren't under constant scrutiny if they were a solid pick or a bust. I guess having the luxury of a complex minor league system helps a lot.

Driving Ms. Moore

So it's been a while since I've had a dream that I can remember.
Last night I was driving around Mandy Moore. I don't know if I was hired help, or just the no name friend of some celebrity. I wasn't wearing any white driving gloves or anything...
This is the eve of the IL Vegas tour. It was going to be the ILR Vegas tour. But Rachel botched up and can't come up from CA. Oh well.

After Six Months On My Own Without Roommates

I've come to the realization that I do not own a can opener. I bought one in Provo, but it disappeared in Provo after a few months. I bought it from Wal-Mart. So it probably broke and was chucked...
Six months on my own and never used a can opener. I guess all those cans I've opened had those "pop-top" lids.

Why Does TV Need Month Long Breaks?

Do they seriously think I want to wait til April 23rd to see what happens on 'Heroes'?
They always do this on dramas too...Sit-coms are usually left alone. Which is silly because I think I would actually really like 'The Office' if I only watched five episodes in five weeks then took a month long break.
Stupid TV producers/writers. This is why I always just download stuff or watch the DVDs later.
Someone should do some market research and point out that we are a "I want it now" society. Remember back in the days of dial-up, AOL and the 14.4 kb modem? Now we get mad when the 6 MB/sec cable feed is slow.
I lost interest in 'Lost' because of the breaks (and the fact that it really started to suck). I lost interest in 'The OC' with the constant breaks and would just download episodes later. I never got into '24' and thats why there are four seasons worth of DVDs sitting shrink wrapped in the chest. If i watch the show when it airs I'll watch their stupid commercials and continue my consumerism of products I don't really need. If I watch the DVD or download the episode (where people are always so kind to cut out the commercials) I don't crave an Apple I-Phone or want to see Spiderman 3.
Sales go down and those sweatshop kids over in Southeast Asia don't get their $1.31 for the day to go buy moldy bread for the family. Everyone loses.
I guess this just means I'll have a month and a half to get caught up on '30 Rock', 'Grey's Anatomy' and 'The Black Donnolleys'.
In Case of Emergency or Fire, Please Save My Pet
So I clean a lot of homes with pets. A lot of these homes have the "In case of emergency or fire, please save my pet" or "In case of fire, please rescue ____ cats ____ dogs" or some sort of sticker like that in the window.
So I was curious to see what the Internet says on the subject. Since I can't imagine firemen standing at the front door, trying to figure out how many cats and dogs are in the home before barging back in to find x number of animals.
I found information that you should;
-have an emergency kit for your pet,
-that you should put the sticker in your window (b/c it's not like the dog/cat bolted out the pet door when it noticed the house was on fire).
-the fire dept in Apex, NC will NOT bring out a truck to rescue your cat from a tree
-aug 06, a man started shooting at firemen b/c they refused to rescue his cat out of a tree.
-you're suppose to provide for your pet in case you die
-Madison, WI's fire dept also has pet oxygen masks on all trucks.
-Sun City, AZ's fire dept also has pet oxygen masks and I found this quote
So yeah, apparently you're suppose to treat a pet like a child. Thats great.

The masks, which came from a Florida company called H.E.L.P animals, eliminate the need for rescuers to improvise with equipment designed for humans. They also take the place of mouth-to-snout resuscitation.

Grey's

Ep 2.
a rape victim bites off her rapist's wee wee!!!
It's in a cooler!!!!
He stumbles in at the 22 min mark.
His wee wee stumbled in at like the 14 min mark!!!
illegal immigrants, wee wees, minorities, people dying every episode, office romance, it's almost as good as Heroes.
This is what some peeps have said about my Grey's Anatomy watching.
Jess: omg its so good you better like it
Ellie: so i'm glad you were somewhat happy with grey's
Episodes 2-4 of 30 Rock are pretty entertaining too.
Analemma

So if you take a picture of the sun at the same time every day for a year. That is what the picture would look like. If you photoshopped it all together. Someone in Ukraine had a little bit of time on their hands and did it from 8/98-8/99.
It's kinda neat.

Brand New on monday's Letterman
It took a while, but i finally got it shrunk down to fit on youtube.
I thought it was funny that Letterman kept holding the CD up backwards...

Revelation 6:12
"And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;"

Does that count? Is that blood? When they take blood tests, my blood looks like grape juice. So... I'm thinking the moon would be like a big grape.
There was a 5.8 earthquake in the middle of no where (off the coast of Indonesia at 5:08 AM at the epicenter of it) so like 9 hours before this post, 1 hour before the lunar eclipse was at its greatest.
If there is no sun tomorrow. I guess I'm really going to make sure I go to church tomorrow.
I guess thats not really blood color and a 5.8 earthquake really isn't a great earthquake. So I'm really probably fine and dandy.
I should be in bed about now, but I took a nap from about 11-4 today. I woke up at 7 , ate breakfast, meddled around, ate lunch then took a nap. It was a bit longer than I would have liked.

Sherwood

So I bought the new Sherwood CD that comes out March 13th. To help pass the time. They let you download it so you have Sherwood to cheer the winter blues away.
I've also downloaded (by other less legal means) the other two EPs they had that I never got around to downloading.
Like always, "A Different Light" is an amazing CD. I think Sherwood has the slight edge over The Format for my favorite "happy music" emo band. Probably because driving the 101 or PCH to anything else is just silly (Though I was listening to Saosin last time...and that rocked).
TV

Since most TV shows are winding down for the season. I've started looking for new shows to watch. I've downloaded all of the episodes so far of '30 Rock', the pilot of 'The Black Donnellys' and season 1 of 'Grey's Anatomy'.
The pilot of '30 Rock' was pretty entertaining. Jordan said it was pretty good. So it looks like he was right.
I'm watching the pilot of Grey's as I type this up, she started out naked, It wasn't a surprise, since it seemed like all I heard about flipping channels was the "chemistry" about the romance and blah blah blah. But since almost every female I know has made a big hulabaloo about the show. I'm giving it a spin. The pilot was similar to the pilot for 'Pepper Dennis'. Person meets person, they have sex, turns out they work together...
Ellen Pompeo and Katherine Heigl are kinda attractive. Hopefully they have patients die like on 'Scrubs'. I'm tired of most of these people living on everyone one of these hospital TV shows. At least "Scrubs' kills off a good number of people every season. I haven't watched 'The Black Donnellys' yet. No one recommended it, but it looked interesting.
The creator of 'Heroes' said that the show was going to follow more of a '24' model than 'lost'. That means closure people. I'm excited. Because 'Lost' really sucked after the first season.
Edit: I've finished the pilot of Greys. It's alrighty so far. Sendhil Ramamurthy of Hereos is Intern #2 in the pilot of Greys. Oh and someone died, in episode 1, so it's not all happy and full of sex, people die too.

My Free Gay Little USB Jump Drive
So I got a free jump drive. 512 MB. Not bad for free. It's all cute and what not, or gay.
I don't care, free is free and now I can move small files from laptop to desktop (or vice versa) without attaching the external hard drive.
This actually the first free USB drive that I've received, usually I never see anything. But lo and behold it was sitting on my doorstep. I don't remember when I signed up to get it... So there maybe a bunch of 64 MB drives sitting in Provo. I dont know.
