San Jose

Sharks

better step it up. An Oct record of 6-5-1 isn't very impressive. Even though they're leading the Pacific division as of right now. Who's going to be at the Staples Center Saturday night? I am. This week can't end quick enough.

The Sharks better win this home-home series with the Kings.

Holy Cow! 103 Hamburgers in 8 Minutes

Joey Chestnut, 23, of San Jose, Calif., surpassed the previous record of 97 Krystal burgers - 2 1/2 inches square - held by Japan's Takeru Kobayashi, set at last year's Krystal Square Off.

Yeah... all San Jose has is a couple of MLS championships thanks to the San Jose Earthquakes of Houston, Smashmouth the band and a glutton named Joey Chestnut. I guess we are the Silicon Valley... hm.

I guess being the safest big city in America is nice too...

I'm Going to SuperLiga

July 24, 2007 Home Depot Center.

Sweet...

So I wanted to see Chelsea and the Galaxy play on the 21st...but yeah. thats not quite going to pan out. So I'm going to see the first game of SuperLiga. What is SuperLiga?

The great soccer rivalry between México and the United States takes on a new dimension this summer with the inaugural edition of SuperLiga, the preeminent club tournament in North America. The best club teams from the two nations will extend the pride, passion, and pageantry that surround their national team matches.

It should be interesting to see. I get to boo Landon Donovan....booo! booo! Maybe not... I don't want to be accused of being Mexican.

I get to see David Beckham's second game in a MLS jersey. MLS has a lot money riding on him making the MLS profitable.

So the Houston Dynamo haven't given up a goal in a MLS game since June 10th....They've gone 605 minutes without allowing a goal...Man Houston got a good team for cheap. Once again the best team in the West...Stupid Mexican San Jose Mayor...

$80 for a Beckham Jersey. Crazy.
The LA Times wrote about his arrival in America.
If Beckham can help to sell 200,000 Galaxy jerseys at $80 a pop, that would represent $16 million at retail and give business partner Adidas a powerful edge in its battle with Nike.

Ring up another $25 million, which is what Herbalife is paying to put its name on Beckham's chest — and then wait to see what other corporations will pay for similar real estate in other MLS cities.

Crazy, hope it pans out for the MLS. I wonder how much Xango paid to get that real estate on the Real Salt Lake jerseys.

Hopefully the Mexicans don't riot.

KA Cirque du Soleil

07.20.07

Section 103, Row C....$165 a ticket...sweet.

The wikipedia article. Link

Oh and Ellie is 20% more American than I am... I guess its because I own a Canadian Olympic hockey team jersey, a Japan 2002 world cup jersey and no Team USA jerseys...

Rich Harden is suppose to be pitching saturday...Almost makes me wish I could go home to see that. Since he is only healthy for about three weeks. then hurt for about three months.

Oh and San Jose native, Joey Chestnut, broke his record at the annual Coney Island hot dog eating competition. He set the record earlier this year for hot dogs eaten. Now the record is 66 in 12 minutes. 1 every 11 seconds... yeah...San Jose rocks.

Screw the Stopped Up Toilet I'm Outta Here.

Yay for some East coast rock, Mae and some West coast rock, Sherwood... I don't really care for Reliant K. But I guess I'm not going to be able to leave before they play...so. yeah.

There has been a great buzz on the Internet on how great Sherwood is live. I'm excited to see if this is true, or just fanboys ranting on forums. Either way, driving along the coast with Sherwood playing is a pretty sweet experience.

Speaking of heavenly, two of these bands claim to be Christian bands. Yay for "Christian" Rock. Yay for Mae going from a Christian label, Tooth and Nail to a major label. It's funny I don't think a Tooth and Nail band has written a song about Jesus in about ten years... maybe the screamo bands have but I can't tell what screamo bands are singing about 94% of the time.

See Relient K...eh. Kinda boring. I guess they get points for having a soccer ball in their music video. Anyways all this means is screaming middle school girls for the evening of April 20th...crap. That's why I said the Brand New show last June was going to be my last show ever.

I want to see Saves the Day and Say Anything the night before. There is some talented East and West coast rock. Max Bemis went to the prestigious Windward School. I drove down to Vegas to see their first show of their first headlining tour. It was also the last show. Max went crazy and checked into a mental institution in Houston. Then he was ok and they were going to open for Saves the Day last year. I bought tickets and Max was crazy again...oh well, Saves the Day puts on a good show.

Say Anything had a contest for people to make a music video.

This was one of them. It has nothing to do with the song (A Jewish couple in love in an extermination camp). Though, that would be a little bit...bleak. It's a well done video.

Off To Arizona

So I'm off to Arizona tomorrow.

Its going to be hot. high 80s, low 90s for highs. Ick.
Lows in the low 60s. So it cools off a little bit more than here. hooray.

The Sharks beat the Coyotes. Take that Phoenix.

VCU kinda put an early wrench in the March Madness bracket. I expected Butler for some reason to choke (I don't really follow basketball, so all of my bracket is just guessing).

An early Happy St. Patty's Day to all.

I've decided that...

I'd like to give So. Cal a twirl. I mean really, my Las Vegas time has been decent. The ability to visit people in different directions is great. The...the... ok, that was really the only benefit. Oh yeah and no state income tax. God Bless gambling.

So people, look for a job. I'm still contemplating other locations. But overall, I think So. Cal deserves to be given a chance.

I think I'll visit UT two more times. Once to give the golf course at Thanksgiving Point one more twirl and to give that bowl in American Fork canyon another twirl. Too bad I can't do both in one visit.

Tentative UT trip dates: April 19-22.

I think after my AZ visit. I'll have seen enough of AZ.

Really though, the Sharks and A's games in So. Cal is really what I'm looking forward to. Before I hopefully migrate back to my home "state" of Northern California.

Because the two really should be two separate identities.

March

I asked for some days off today.

3/10, 3/16 and 3/17.

So I'm all set to play with Irene, Larrie and Rachel in Vegas. Which probably just will consist of eating...and I have no idea.

But I'm off to Spring Training. These are the games going on while I'm over there in AZ.

Phoenix Municipal Stadium
5999 East Van Buren
Phoenix, AZ 85008

3/16 v ARI
3/17 v MIL
or a split squad game 3/18 V LAA.

I don't know what I'll end up going to. I'd really like to go to two of the games... but who knows what David might throw my way. I'll probably try to track Kevin down and say hi, or something.

There is nothing going on show-wise down there. The Flogging Molly is playing Saturday in Mesa.

Arizona though. Never thought I'd ever want to go to AZ, even with Spring Training (since ST just consists of MLB players playing 2-3 innings then some combination of High A to AAA ballplayers finishing off the game). Of course I went to UT... AZ is probably like Vegas, just with more Mexicans...and cheaper housing and probably just as crappy drivers.

pointless milestones, interesting websites and places to go

So this is what I've accomplished since the last post.

The I-Tunes music library has broken the 40 gig mark (its at 40.75 gig to be precise). Thats 19.4 days worth of music people. I can play a song and not hear it again for almost three weeks.

The lil 200SX has hit 75,000 miles. Yay for trips to neighboring states. It's really nothing for a car that is eight-years-old. I still want a '08 Altima in a year and half...

Toyota is making a sweet hybrid sports car though. It's suppose to cost like 35k. It's suppose to go all fast. It looks all exotic. Maybe too exotic for my taste as a primary mode of transport. But take a look, if you want. Site

So apparently rape is pretty bad in prison. Which is why I'd never want to go. If my heist went bad and the cops showed up, I'd run and get shot hopefully in the back of the head. Knowing my luck, i'd probably be shot in the leg and sent off to prison. So I guess I should just be a model citizen and not commit crimes or plan heists that can go bad.

Instead of making prison safer for prisoners, why don't we tell everyone that you'll be butt-raped in prison so much that you don't even mind it anymore. Maybe that will lower the crime rates. Maybe, if not, it will give those reality shows plenty of new police chase footage. Site

David and his buddy Chris are coming out to Vegas probably this weekend. The CD tour was so much fun that they wanted a CD Tour deux, the next month. Then it's off to CA for some beach-sitting and watching the Kings probably lose to the Av's.

Then Irene, Larrie and Rachel are coming out to like eat cheese cake and In-N-Out in March. Then the weekend after that, I'm going off to Arizona to watch some Spring Training and... burn in the heat of Arizona. I posted a diary on Athletics Nation to see what there was to do in Arizona. It pretty much was shop or drink. Site I'm stoked.

There are some rumors that the A's will be the Silicon Valley A's of Fremont. Now thats just ridiculous. I don't want to be sitting in Cisco Field, and then hear, "and now here are yooooour Silicon Valley A's ooooooof Fremont!!!!"

That would be like the Jazz moving to Provo and being called the Bubble Jazz of Provo.

Silly Silly.

I realize that the ...of Fremont is a given. Since the stadium is in Fremont and Fremont wants some recognition for it. I also realize that the Giants are going to cry if they are called the San Jose A's of Fremont. Since they own the territory rights to San Jo. The A's would probably try to stick it to them and call them the San Jose A's...

Hopefully it will just stay the Oakland A's of Fremont. And maybe they can just slip it under Fremont's nose and call them just the Oakland A's, 90% of the time.

Oh and downing two-40 oz slurpees in one day is a bad idea.

So. Cal Tour

Feb 24-25

So I'm going to a hockey game. I wanted to see the Sharks...but that doesn't work into the schedule so well. So I have to see the Avs and Kings... I don't know who to cheer for. Because cheering for a So. Cal professional sports team is pretty much like...well just plain wrong. But they'll be so far out of the playoff hunt by then, how can you not cheer for the bumbling kings? They had a Japanese goalie for a while, before signing Sean Burke because they finally realized that having a Japanese born goalie is just perposterious (thats him above).

I really wanted to see them play the Ducks. But everyone and their mother is going to the Ducks/Kings games.

I've been wanting to go to a hockey game with Jess for like four years. Seriously, how often do you find a chick that has decent taste in music and willing to watch hockey?!?!?!

Happy Ground Hogs day. Did the groundhog see his shadow? I hope he did (or whatever it is for 6 more weeks of winter). The weather has been great out here. A tad bit chilly in the morning and evening, but at high noon, its sweet. The desert is a-ok in Feb (at least in Vegas).

My life is like ground hog's day its the same crap every day. Wake up, bowl of cereal, work, come home, watch tv/eat/Internet, sleep. Repeat.

Sherwood.

4.20.2007- In the venue
Salt Lake City, UT

So I kinda miss that gay little venue (they used to be called Bricks, like other clubs they had dances when they didn't have shows, they had a homosexual night so all the homosexuals could meet each other while out clubbin)that lost its roof to that freak Salt Lake tornado. Its also funny, the fact that it took like four years to put some sort of roof on that building (they had a tarp on there for a good long time).

I like Sherwood. "Sing, But Keep Going" is easily one of my top 10 cds I own. It's upbeat. It's not hard, so everyone can enjoy it. It's fun. They're a good band to listen to while driving along the coast. I might just go to So. Cal and see them. I don't know. But I never saw them live. I must remedy that. So I guess the Brand New show will not be the last "big" show I see.

Give 'Never Ready' a spin on their website. It's a nifty song.

I think it's funny that MSNBC had Carmen Rasmusen comment on Paula Abdul's drunken interviews...Would anyone know who she was if they didn't say "former contestant"? I remember how my old roommate came home from a football game and said Carmen sat on his foot and subsequently showed off the butt floss.

Two more weeks in 2006

So I've added labels to all my posts and now there are links on the side, so people can check out such exciting blog posts such as, Rants, contains exciting rants, or Internet thingies, contains Internet dandies. Fun Stuff.

I'm thinking of taking a weekend trip to Utah in January. I want to play in Midway on the tube shoots. Hopefully there will be snow. I am also thinking of checking out Matt's hockey team which I would have gotten stuck playing goalie for (if the league is up and running again when I visit). Hopefully there is a taco sunday on the week i visit. Other than that I don't know what else I'd do up there.

The Sharks and Ducks are tied with only a couple minutes left in the game. GO SHARKS.

Speaking of sports how many more team brawls have their been in basketball than hockey in the 21st century. Probably because there are nothing but thugs in the NBA.

It's sad that this is being labeled as " Things to look forward to".

EDIT: Never mind the Sharks won. woot.

AD

Apparently, season 3's DVD set is going to be released Aug. 29th.

The A's swept the Yanks in NY. Take that 220 million dollar team.
They're also 8-2 in June. Yay for June.

After going 12-17 in May and 12-11 in April. This is winning streak (against good teams no less) is a welcome change.

Going to CA June 21-25 and then somewhere else June 30-july 9th. woot.

I heart june.

Tuesday, June 06, 2006

California here I come.

June 21-25 will be spent in a car driving to San Jo and then driving back to blah Provo. No work, but thanks to PTO i still get paid as if I was sitting at work. Woot! Paid time off rocks. This probably means the 2nd quarter wish item of a panini grill (look at the 4/6/06 blog entry) will be pushed back to the 3rd quarter wish item. Especially since I bought a digital camera and a new phone...

80 Days til Brand New in Salt Lake City. July 15th, 2006.

Last Week

So the A's started out the season 5-2. As long as they can get through April and May with at least a .500 record I'd be happy since they always start out the season so piss poor.

The Sharks are in the 7th playoff spot and mathmatically can finish any where from 4th to 10th.

The Giants started out the season 4-2.

Wafflelafafafa was a fun little shindig.

I saw Matchbook Romance and the early november on Tuesday and The format on Saturday. They were good shows.

Arrested Development season 3 DVD release 6/13/06.
