Goodbye February, Hello March

Ben and Jerry's Stephen Colbert's Americone Dream:

DISAPPOINTING! It's not bad, just not great.

who'd a thunk, Ben, Jerry, Stephen... it should be frozen liquid gold!

sad.

So I got a text, a friend's friend worked on some movie and there was a free screening at CSU Long Beach.

So Kaakun went off to Long Beach. I was the ethnic friend to make four white people look like they belonged in the LBC.

(REGULATORS... mount up)

We saw Coyote it was decent, especially being an indy film and all. Probably wouldn't get picked up by Fox Spotlight and achieve Napoleon Dynamite or Little Miss Sunshine distribution. but whatever.

The funny thing is I joked with a friend, that we could become coyotes and be awesome at it. One guy becomes a minute man and tell the coyote where the border patrol/other minute men are (did the samething last season on Weeds, I wonder if this is a common occurance?). Pile everyone into a van and drop them off in some Arizona city. $1500-2000 a head. Start rolling in the dough.

You get bored, you can netflix it when the dvd drops on March 10th.

From Asian Corespondent Kyle, Currently in India

Monkeys on the side of the road, got harassed by some dudes for money for taking this picture, they tried to get into our van, hah, good thing for power locks.

The taj was pretty cool, we arrived in Agra, the city where it is on Saturday and went there on Saturday, and stayed over night and went there to look at it at sunrise. Supposedly it is different colors depending on how the sun is hitting it. Haha, i didn't notice that much of a difference, but it was still cool seeing at sunrise.

I'm still not fully adjusted to the local food here, but fortunately there are places that serve northern indian food (the indian food most common in the U.S.), and a few places that serve what would be considered western food, and some chinese food (more like indochina though). There's also a pizza hut and dominos and a chicken place similar to kfc called chic king.

Hmmm... I Guess It's an Emo Band?

What would your own album look like if you were in a band? Follow the directions below and find out...

Here are the rules:

1 - Go to Wikipedia. Hit “random... Read More”
or click http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
The first random Wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.

2 - Go to Quotations Page and select "random quotations"
or click http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
The last four or five words of the very last quote on the page is the title of your first album.

3 - Go to Flickr and click on “explore the last seven days”
or click http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days
Third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.

4 - Use Photoshop or something similar to put it all together.

Borrowed

from Larrie's blog.

(Yes, I dream of the day my blog gets so big that I need correspondent blog post authors to keep my readership entertained while I'm zipping along the World Wide Web looking for new information to make witty Internet banter about. Really I just want to say, "Now we go live to our white female corespondent, ________")

For those of you who don’t know, I am NOT a fan of “LOL.” See discussion here if you want more of a reason.

And, of course, like every week, post a caption for this pic in the comment section. Coolest caption gets a high five from ME!

I on the other hand, find it amusing when people say LOL in daily conversation.

"Look at me, I'm an Internet hipster, I'm soo cool, I have a blog that four people read. That makes me a minor Internet celebrity. LOL"

I always wondered why this became such an over-used Internet acronym. The urban dictionary definition is entertaining.

It's original definition was "Laughing out loud" (also written occasionally as "Lots of Laughs"), used as a brief acronym to denote great amusement in chat conversations.

Now, it is overused to the point where nobody laughs out loud when they say it. In fact, they probably don't even give a shit about what you just wrote. More accurately, the acronym "lol" should be redefined as "Lack of laughter."

Depending on the chatter, its definition may vary. The list of its meanings includes, but is not limited to:
1) "I have nothing worthwhile to contribute to this conversation."
2) "I'm too lazy to read what you just wrote so I'm typing something useless in hopes that you'll think I'm still paying attention."
3) "Your statement lacks even the vaguest trace of humor but I'll pretend I'm amused."
4) "This is a pointless acronym I'm sticking in my sentence just because it's become so engraved into my mind that when chatting, I MUST use the meaningless sentence-filler 'lol.'"

I always wonder why, ROFL didn't catch on.

I mean seriously... if you're rolling on the floor laughing.. that must be VERY funny.

laughing out loud. thats pretty funny.

what about,

SWSL (Smiling with a semi-audible laugh)
GLSG (Giggling like a school girl)
SLOLHWSEOT(sarcastic laughing out loud, how I wish someone else was online to talk to)
CC (Cricket, cricket...)

Salt and Wedgies

Woman uses wedgie to capture suspected thief

(02-17) 17:50 PST Salt Lake City (AP) --

It took a wedgie and a headlock to pin down a man suspected of breaking into a car. Yvonne Morris, a technician at the Brickyard Animal Hospital, said she chased a man who broke into a co-worker's car, but he kept squirming away from her.

Morris eventually grabbed the man's boxer shorts and pulled. Salt Lake City police said she then she put a headlock on the man until help could arrive.

The man was booked into the Salt Lake County jail on suspicion of vehicle burglary, possession of stolen property and outstanding warrants.

Coraline

So I went and saw Coraline. Which is strange, because in the last three years, I've only seen three movies (3rd Pirates movie, 3rd Bourne movie and the 6th Batman movie) in the theater.

I liked it, didn't love it, didn't hate it. 4 out of 5 stars. The 3D wizardry was "oooooh" worthy. It had some slow parts. There was the occasional thought of, "Tim Burton would have made this go from good to great" but whatever, he can't have his hand in every dark stop animation movie.

It would be interesting to read the book. Maybe I'll get to that before 2020. Hopefully the world doesn't end in 2012... or else reading Coraline will so not be done.

A 3D movie does means 3D trailers! Up in 3D... eh. Monsters vs Aliens in 3D.. ooooooh.
Looks like Dreamworks>Pixar in 09. But 9 looks like fun. It has Coheed and Cambria's Welcome Home for the song in trailer. If they slap Coheed and Cambria on something promotional, I'll buy it. Hockey on Verus? check. 9? check (well... later this fall).

Oh and I guess LeeElle birthed the thing I so affectionately named a Chipotle burrito.

Look at that, read the blog and get a minor congrats buried at the end of a blog post.

Women less tolerant of each other than men are, study finds

The research, published in the US journal Psychological Science, found that women formed a negative view of their peers much quicker than men did.

The authors, led by associate professor of psychology Joyce Benenson, concluded that women were harsher on their peers because they expected more from their same-sex relationships than men did.

Off to Verizon I Go

So... the phone's buttons decided they didn't want paint anymore. The send, 1 and, # were pretty much bare in the middle. So I went down to Verizon to see what kind of excuse. By the time the "New Every Two hit..." I'd have a phone with bare buttons. How am I going to know what is 5?

I expected the whole, sorry cosmetic things isn't covered under the warranty.

To which I was ready to reply... well its kinda hard to use a phone where you don't know if you're pushing 2 or 6.

Instead they handed me a new (new? "new" refurbished? who knows) phone... which also happened to have a new battery in it.

Awesome.

All this time looking forward to jumping ship March 2010 so I could be like the cool kids with an Iphone. Now I'm a little bit torn. Do I dump my 8-year relationship for a nifty toy??? probably.

Other Rants
-So New Found Glory and their constant "this album sounds like nothing before" blah blah blah. Well its the same thing as before... maybe for a new record label.

-Blink 182 back together. Apparently Mark realized without the whole "look at us we're pop-punk pioneers status of Blink." No one cared.

-decide it would be cool to have offical game pucks for every arena I've been to, went down to the Honda Center. $15 for an official game puck. WTF?

typically $10. which is ridiculous. 2 stickers and a lot of rubber = maybe $2. Ok

I asked the guy. "Are you serious?" $15? nhl.com has them for $10. I got one in LA for $10.

"We're not associated with NHL.com."

No, no you're not. Tickets are pricey, merchandise is pricey. Typical Anaheim, ooooh look at us we won the Stanley Cup, ok fans bend over and let the champs from 2 yrs ago rape you.

Yay Samonella.

On January 13, 2009 Peanut Corporation of America issued a nationwide recall involving 21 lots of peanut butter made since July 1 at its plant in Blakely, Ga., because of possible salmonella contamination. As of January 30, 2009, the recall now affects lots dating back to January of 2007 for certain brands. Additionally, new brands have been added to the recall.

JANUARY 2007?!?!?!!

Am I suppose to remember peanut purchases for the past two years?

A bunch of those healthy energy bars apparently are amongst the products affected.

Atkins, Clif, Detour, GNC, ISS, Kashi, Larabar, Nutripals, Supreme Protein, Thinkthin, Titan, Wisted.

Hmmm I've eaten Kashi and Clif bars with peanuts over the past two years. Oh well, hello salmonella.

Almost Exactly One Year Ago

One year ago or so, the roommate situation wasn't so great. One tries to win you over with eating activities. The other, I didn't really talk to. I mean look at this post. link

2009 is better I reckon. Kevin and I actually talk... sorta. In December, a pipe that runs under his room burst and he had to live in the front room for two weeks. So that forced conversation with someone I've "known" for a little over a year.

It's not so bad now, not the hey lets go hang out. But at least there is normal conversation... sorta. Is making fun of stupid people normal conversation?

HAHAHAHAHAHA

A customer review on Planet Earth.

surprisingly sad 02/01/2009
By Sandy106 from Miami
What's great about it: Nice pictures and cinematography
What's not so great: Shocking predatory scenes. Very sad. I don't want to see it again.

"I got this blue ray believing that it was all about nature and beautiful sceneries.
It was surprisingly sad to discover how cruel the production was, including footage of little baby animals being eating alive for predators.
It is in a bad taste, and very very sad."

Apparently this person has never ever seen a documentary on wild animals.

In reading through reviews, I'm surprised that some people would actually want to have the Sigourney Weaver version. I would gladly trade my Sigourney Weaver copy and $20 for a David Attenborough copy. 90 more minutes on the BBC version and a better narrator?!?! How can you go wrong?

Comcast suspects 'foul play' in Super Bowl porn feed

It is still unclear how many viewers were affected by the clip, which lasted about 30 seconds, and featured full male nudity, Maslyn said.
